New year, new you and what better way to show it than with a new ride. It’s the year of new things, so do yourself a favor and dream big, find that vehicle you’ve always wanted and get it!
It’s safe to say there has been a shift in recent years for car dealerships to shake off the sales vibe and gravitate towards a more personal feel to the buying process.
What has helped create this pivot in the procedure is the prevalence of desperately needed vehicles: family cars that don’t look, you know—like family cars; trucks that operate just as easily as an office and luxury ride as they do mudslinging rock climbers.
There are more vehicle options than ever before and the demand for them is real. This has instilled even more confidence in car companies like GMC and Buick, as they both have a clear vision for the future of driving, and that vision includes anyone looking for innovation, safety, and high levels of performance in their vehicles.
GMC has every right to be confident, the accolades the company has received over the years—for more than just the Sierra truck series—could stand up against any other car company out there. They simply build tough, reliable vehicles. And they’ve been doing it for as long as the company has been around. That’s quite a long time.
Buick, on the other hand, is a little different. Because they needed to completely change their brand, this could be looked at as a sign of weakness. Obviously, something was not right if they had to change things up on such a major scale. Moreover, before the big overhaul, Buick was known more as the old person’s car. They just weren’t popular with the wider, younger market. But despite all of this, Buick has come out boldly with new products that appeal to the older crowd, as well as the younger. The company’s incredible sales and continued commitment to excellence provide nothing but confidence for this company, as it has positioned itself right between high-end workingman’s vehicles and luxury drivers.
If you are embracing the idea of “new things” this new year, start with Buick and GMC.
Getting What You Want
Buying at the beginning of the year is a sure way to find the biggest variety of both new and used vehicles. Room has been made on the lot for all of next year’s models and they are all shiny and new, and we are already itching to get them off the lot. Come vehicle shopping in January and February and you will find yourself with more options than you could ever imagine.
So how do you decide which vehicle is best for you?
As with any significant purchase, research and patience are necessary. In a perfect vehicle-buying situation, you the customer, as well as the salesperson, are both benefiting during the buying process. Waiting until the end of the workday is good, holding out until the end of the month is better, but if you can withstand the temptation to buy the first thing that sticks out, and you put the time and research into it, you will most likely end up driving home in something you truly want.
It takes time to find the right vehicle. You want something tough, something you see on the road a lot—not the side of the road. For example, how many Buick or GMC models do you see broken down, shamefully sitting on the side of the highway? Not often, if ever, and that’s because they are trustworthy workhorses that last a heck of a long time.
For example, the new Buick Encore GX easily gets 29 miles mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway, which is not bad at all for such a powerful SUV. Moreover, this is a perfect family mobile: it’s not too big or weirdly shaped (like a lot of minivans and crossovers), and inside it has plenty of room and features to keep the entire family comfortable and happy.
Buying a Truck: First Thing’s First
Before you go to buy a new GMC Sierra truck, it’s important to think about how you will use it. The 1500, 2500, and 3500 all have unique components, which make them a perfect match for different types of truck drivers. Here are a few things to consider when deciding on your GMC Sierra:
• What sort of things will you be carrying and hauling? If you only need the truck for around the house (hauling mulch, pulling a small trailer, or even some fun off-roading), you might consider a light-duty truck with four-wheel-drive like the GMC Sierra 1500. On the other hand, if you need to carry heavy loads and pull big pieces of equipment, you might consider a heavy-duty truck, like the GMC Sierra 3500. And there’s also the mid-duty truck, the GMC Sierra 2500, that isn’t quite as extreme as the heavy-duty but can do more than a light-duty. This level of truck is nice for those who will mostly use it around the house but occasionally will need it for some big jobs.
• Just as important as choosing the right size of truck is finding the right engine. The advancements in the modern truck have made it a bit more powerful than that of the old days. Now, a 6-cylinder truck engine can outperform just about any older V-8. And the modern V-8? Well, these are nothing but raw power and can pull and carry just about anything. Heavy-duty, mid-duty, and small-duty trucks can differ in engine sizes. A small-duty truck usually comes with either a 4-cylinder or 6-cylinder engine, and a mid-and heavy-duty can be a 6 or an 8. Again, just depends on how you plan to use your truck.
• Another thing to think about is the cab size you will need. A regular cab offers a single row of seating and can create tight quarters for three passengers. A crew-cab, however, has two rows of seating, offering extra space and is more comfortable for longer trips. The size of the cab also affects the length of the bed. The less cab room, the more bed space. There are special cases when you can get an extended bed, which offers the best of both worlds, but this will add length to the truck as a whole, which can take some getting used to.

It can be a lot to think about, but there’s no reason to stress—it’s worth the time you take to make sure you are getting what you need and want. If you find yourself struggling to decide between the right truck, we can help.
With a new year upon us, and a fresh lineup of new Buick and GMC vehicles on the lot, now is the perfect time to get that vehicle you have been wanting, whether it’s a truck, family car, or something special just for you. We have you covered at Liberty Buick GMC.

Buick and GMC are two of America’s most reliable vehicle brands, and now more than ever, both company’s dedication to building formidable, classic vehicles is paying off. American-made cars are coming off the line faster than ever; in fact, there are more Buick and GMC vehicles available than ever before—and as always, at a great price. At Liberty Buick GMC, we have everything you need to know about saving big money by car shopping this December.
You have done your research and you know which Buick or GMC vehicle best suits your needs. You have spent time exploring prices and you have figured what you can best afford. Now, imagine yourself walking into the car lot and eyeing that vehicle you have been wanting. The test drive is over and it is the end of the day. You may be tired and not in the mood to deal with a salesperson, but you came with the intent of getting a good deal and you, the savvy consumer, are determined to make that happen.
Because it is the end of the day, and more importantly since it’s the end of the year, your salesperson is more than ready to lock up a deal and get you and your new car on the road to happiness. Now, it is true that our salespeople are always eager to find you, the customer, a great deal; but now, in December, we are even more eager because we need to finalize the year’s sales and make room for next year’s models. What’s on the lot now has to go! Time is of the essence and inflating prices is not our game at Liberty Buick GMC. Needless to say, we are ready to negotiate a great price.
Buying at the end of the year is propitious on a much larger scale because it is typically when dealers are most anxious to close a sale in order to meet or exceed the year’s quota. Go vehicle shopping the last two weeks in December and you will find yourself negotiating over a sale that must be made. These two weeks are the absolute best in timing, as new models will be arriving soon and the ones remaining must be sold to make room.
As with any significant purchase, research, patience, and mediation skills are necessary. (And maybe a little chocolate for a treat.) In a perfect vehicle-buying situation, the customer, as well as the salesperson, are both benefiting from the process. Waiting until the end of the workday is good for purchasing vehicles, but holding out until the end of the month is better; but if you can withstand the temptation to buy until those last two weeks in December, you will be able to give yourself quite a nice post holiday gift and for the best possible price. It’s worth the wait.

Are you old enough to remember when Black Friday was the Friday after Thanksgiving? Yep, the “big sale” used to only be one day a year. There is a lot of history behind this special shopping day that now, in its modern form, lasts for multiple weeks. At Liberty Buick GMC, our Black-Friday deals start November 15th and go until the New Year, because one day just isn’t enough. But, don’t procrastinate because even though we have a full stock of your favorite Buick and GMC vehicles, they will not last long.
Black Friday has become the last two months of the year due to its super-sized sales and a hungry consumer market looking for a great deal. Despite financial depressions and tightening pocketbooks, Black Friday has remained a day of deals for decades. For dealerships, Black Friday specials get earlier each year. Turn on the television and you will already see random shopping advertisements for “sales that cannot be beaten.” Whether it’s due to end of year sales quota demands or to make room for more of next year’s models, come November and December, perks for purchasing a car are plenty—especially at Liberty Buick GMC, where you can find some of the best deals on Buick and GMC models anywhere.

Buick & GMC: Top-of-the-Line Vehicles that Keep Getting Better
Over the past few years, Buick and GMC have managed to top sales and impress buyers in a pretty noticeable way. How have the venerated, American car companies done it, and what makes them so different from all the others? Let’s take a minute and unpack answers to these important questions—after all, if you plan on purchasing a new, shiny car, you want to know why it’s the best.
Recently, Buick completely overhauled its entire lineup of vehicles. The well-established car company took a classic that has been around longer than most other sedans, the Regal, and successfully turned it into a luxurious, sturdy, and powerful machine. Something many other car companies are still struggling to produce in a sedan. Buick also created something new and enticing in the Encore, a compact SUV. This sporty ride provides a new face for Buick, something brighter and more vibrant. If Buick has lacked in distant years with marketing themselves as a competitive car company, it sure doesn’t show now. Buick is not only in the game, they are up in front leading the charge, and this is shown not only in the style and stature of their new rides but in their impressive performance as well.
GMC has done much of the same over the past few years. Only they have been able to play into their own hand a bit more with the Sierra truck. From its very creation (which reaches as far back as the early 1960s) the Sierra was a huge hit, for both veteran and new truck enthusiasts. What GMC has managed to do is capitalize on something good by constantly keeping it updated with the latest technology, comfort, and high performance capabilities. And it doesn’t hurt that GMC’s SUVs are fan favorites as well with their luxurious comfort and aesthetics paired with rugged power. The Yukon SUVs and Sierra trucks alone have managed to carry GMC far and continue to do so. If you just look at the number of trim levels and add-on features these two beasts carry it’s mind-boggling.
Why Shop Black Friday with Us
It’s safe to say there has been a shift in recent years for car dealerships to shake off the sales vibe and gravitate towards a more personal feel to the car buying process. But guess what, Buick and GMC dealers have already been doing this. Customer satisfaction has always been number one for us because we don’t want your business for one time only. We want to form a trusting relationship where you feel comfortable bringing vehicles to have work done and you feel comfortable coming back for your next new or used vehicle.
Just come into Liberty Buick GMC and see for yourself. We pride ourselves on how much we can help the customer find what he or she wants and needs rather than how many people were convinced to buy something. If a customer has a pleasant experience at a dealership, and if the vehicle purchased performs at top levels for an extended period of time, that customer will always come back—and encourage others to do so as well. It’s a way of thought that works and Buick/GMC do it best.
With the sale season on our heels, it can be difficult to justify car shopping in the midst of all the other soon-to-be-made purchases, especially as we navigate ourselves through a lasting pandemic. But, those who know how to shop, who know that sometimes the most money saved is when it is used at the most inopportune time, understand that these last two months of the year are critical. Dealerships are clearing out what they can and it’s for the benefit of the buyer. And, even better, when you buy local you save on service, especially when you shop at Liberty Buick GMC where we “will make sure you get the best price when you purchase and the best service throughout the year.”
See you soon and happy shopping!

It’s no secret that pickup truck brands like Ford and Ram have been making significant strides in innovation and design over the last few years. And while General Motors has been producing world-class trucks of its own, the automaker has really stepped up its game as of late.
On October 21, GM revealed the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. In a word, wow. Among other features, the new GMC full-size pickup boasts groundbreaking technology, next-level luxury in the cabin, tantalizing exterior redesigns, and two all-new trims. It’s a sight to behold from all angles, and it leaves no question of which brand sets the “Professional Grade” standard in the pickup industry.
If you’ve been waiting to learn about the upcoming 2022 Sierra 1500, you’ve come to the right place! Liberty Buick GMC previews the stunning new pickup below:
A Glance at What’s New
The 2022 Sierra 1500 has gone through a substantial makeover in terms of design and technology. The front end of the pickup is simply striking and gives the truck an overall wider appearance than previous models. However, the interior is where the Sierra upgrades are most prominent. Almost every trim level comes with a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 13.4-inch touchscreen to go with GM’s easy-to-use infotainment system.
GMC uses the most upscale materials throughout the cabin in this Sierra than in any other GM vehicle in the past. Go with the top trim Denali Ultimate, and you will get a lot of leather and authentic open-pore wood surfaces. Another impressive aspect of the new Sierra is that every model comes with a plethora of standard driver assists, while the Denalis receive the all-new Super Cruise feature.
The other new Sierra trim is the AT4X, which is one of the lineup’s most rugged models. This beast includes electric front and rear differentials, a specially designed suspension, and beefy off-road tires. A turbo-four engine replaces the base V6 of old, and it provides more torque as well as responds better with the transmission.
Moreover, the Sierra’s diesel engine is now compatible with the Max Trailering package, which brings its maximum towing capacity to 13,200 pounds—4,000 more than previous versions.
A View From the Outside
Now that we are getting into the details of what makes the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 such an astonishing pickup truck, we’ll start with what you will see when you pull into the parking lot at Liberty Buick GMC! All trims come with a front bumper, fascia, and grille that have been completely reworked; each trim also gets a unique finish on these components. The new model year brings signature LED daytime running lights and new LED headlights to all models, along with an animated lighting sequence that activates when anyone approaches, starts, and leaves the vehicle.
New wheel designs are included on the SLT and Denali trims, and the lineup gets three new exterior colors: Desert Sand Metallic, Dynamic Blue Metallic, and Titanium Rush Metallic. The all-new Denali Ultimate features an aggressive-yet-refined chrome grille and special Mount Denali badging. The trim also comes with 22-inch wheels and the first-ever 6-way MultiProTailgate. The Denali Ultimate is topped off with power side steps and a top-of-the-line adaptive suspension system.
The Sierra AT4X adds luxurious components to the burly off-road truck of recent years. While there are distinct exterior design features that set the AT4X apart from the rest of the lineup, performance is where GMC focused most on here. The Multimatic spool-valve dampers and springs boost suspension motion by 50mm in the front and 25mm in the rear, and a wide range of off-road situations are benefited from the two-speed transfer case, which offers several driving modes; this includes the Terrain Mode that enables the driver to activate rock-crawling with a single pedal. The AT4X receives electronically locking differentials in the front and rear, making it the only pickup in its class to offer such a feature.
One other way that the new Sierra 1500 exhibits GMC’s commitment to detail is the improvements the automaker has made to the chassis and suspension calibrations. There is also steel cladding underneath the pickup to protect the transfer case and other sensitive elements. You can even add a rocker guard accessory as an upgrade.
A Glimpse Into the Cabin
As previously mentioned, the new Sierra 1500 has made significant upgrades on the exterior front, but it is the interior that has pickup enthusiasts salivating. The cabin inside the new Sierra, particularly the Denali Ultimate and Denali trims, is as exquisite as it is practical. The interiors of Ford’s and Ram’s full-size pickups have garnered high praise for their luxurious and technological qualities, but the 2022 GMC Sierra is built to best even those pickup trucks.
We’re talking about full-grain leather upholstery and real Paldao wood throughout the entire cabin. The seats, dash, console lid, and door panels are adorned with gorgeous leather, and there’s even a microsuede headliner. Other standard features include a rear camera mirror system and a power sunroof.
There is no doubt the new Sierra AT4X is among the most capable off-road vehicles on the market. But GMC pulled no punches when designing the pickup’s interior. There are full-grain leather wraps and accents throughout the cabin to go with premium leather upholstery. There is a lot of rich, dark leather, as well as red and white stitching and Vanta ash wood to balance out the tones. The AT4X comes with a 15-inch head-up display, a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system, and a power sliding sunroof and rear window. And let’s not forget the industry-leading 16-way power adjusting front seats, which also provides a massaging feature that actually works!
The Denali Ultimate and AT4X are not the only Sierra models to boast an impressive interior. All models get a completely redesigned center console. Any Sierra with bucket seats receives a new electronic shifter and the SLE trim and above feature a 13.4-inch infotainment touchscreen and 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. Moreover, all trims are eligible for the novel Elevation Premium package, which gives you leather upholstery, bucket seats, and rear seats with added storage.
Looking Under the Hood
The engines belonging to the 2022 Sierra lineup are the same as in previous years. The base engine is a turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder that produces 310 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. This engine replaces last year’s base V6 engine and has 20 percent more torque.
Next up with a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel inline-six engine that pushes 277 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. This diesel engine is compatible with the Max Trailering Package and can provide towing for up to 13,200 pounds.
The most powerful option is the 5.3-liter V8 and 6.2-liter V8. The 5.3-liter is good for 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque, while the 6.2-liter yields 420 hp and 460 lb-ft. All the engines are paired with a 10-speed automatic except for the four-cylinder, which works with an eight-speed automatic. Rear-wheel drive comes standard while four-wheel drive is an option across trims.
Snooping Into Safety
The 2022 GMC Sierra makes all of the basic safety features standard across all models. Among others, this includes:
• Automatic high-beam headlights
• Automatic emergency breaking
• Front pedestrian breaking
• Forward-collision alert
• Lane-keeping assist
• Lane-departure warning
• Following distance indicators
• Blind-spot alert
Not surprisingly, you can get even more advanced safety systems in the higher trims or by purchasing an upgrade package. This is the first year GMC is producing vehicles with its Super Cruise system. This semi-autonomous hands-free technology is standard on the Sierra Denali Ultimate and optional on the Denali. Drivers using this system can drive hands-free through more than 200,000 miles of U.S. and Canadian roads. What’s more, you can use Super Cruise when trailering, which is also a first.
The system includes 14 camera views and a feature that makes the trailer appear transparent when looking at the display in the cabin. The added size and length of the trailer are accounted for when the trailer is hitched up, thanks to the adaptive cruise control and blind-spot alert technologies. And this is just the beginning—there are a plethora of advanced driving assistance systems available for the new Sierra lineup!
Taking In the Tech
All Sierra 1500 trims get refreshed on the inside and outside in 2022, but when it comes to technology, the upgrades are reserved for the SLE and above. Coming standard is a 13.4-inch touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital gauge display that can be configured to your liking. You can also choose to show trailering information, navigation, and other details in the driver’s gauge cluster. If you opt for the 15-inch head-up display, it will bring your cabin to a total of 40 diagonal inches of screen.
The Sierra 1500 SLE and above trims also get Google built into their truck, and the Denali and AT4 trims come with three years of service. The Google system will work with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and it provides Google Assistant, Google Play, map functionality, and much more. By using Google Assistant in your pickup, you can operate navigation, music, many of the truck’s functions, and other features. It is clear that GMC was not going to bow to any competitor in terms of tech for the 2022 model year!
A Peek at the Trims
Hopefully, you have a pretty good idea of what you can expect from the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. Let’s close by giving a quick run-through of the eight trims available:
Denali Ultimate
As the top-level trim, the Sierra Denali Ultimate comes standard with pretty much everything. You get the 6.2-liter V8 engine (but you can opt for the 3.0-liter Duramax turbo-diesel engine) and you get tons of safety tech like the Super Cruise driver-assistance system.
The Denali Ultimate also comes with a unique Vader Chrome grille and signature 22-inch low-gloss black aluminum wheels with elaborate accents. Then there is the 12-speaker Bose Premium Series with a Centerpoint surround sound system, and even a Kicker MultiPro audio system in the truck bed!
Denali
You can also get the Duramax turbo-diesel engine or the 6.2-liter V8 on the Sierra Denali, though it comes standard with the 5.3-liter. Super Cruise and other safety technologies are optional on this trim, but most of the high-end infotainment and tech tools that GMC has to offer are standard. The Denali also comes with GMC’s premium suspension system, including a first-in-class continuous damping Adaptive Ride Control.
AT4X
The Sierra AT4X comes with the 6.2-liter V8 engine to go with front and rear electric-locking differentials; no other truck in the class offers this combination. This is also the model that will give you the first Multimatic DSSV spool-valve dampers, along with heated and ventilated power front seats that include 16 adjustments and massage functionality.
AT4
The AT4 comes standard with the Duramax turbo-diesel, but you can opt for the 6.2-liter V8 engine if you want a little more power. This trim is lifted two inches higher off the ground and features a special off-road suspension and Rancho monotube shocks. The AT4 comes standard with 18-inch wheels and mud-terrain tires.
SLT
The Sierra SLT comes standard with a 5.3-liter V8 engine, and you can opt for the Duramax turbo-diesel or the 6.2-liter V8 engine. When it comes to trailering, the SLT provides the most assistance technologies in the class; this includes a trailering app that can be used from inside the truck. Front bucket seats come standard as well.
Elevation
The Sierra Elevation comes with a 2.7-liter turbocharged engine. You can get it with the 5.3-liter V8 or the Duramax turbo-diesel if you prefer. This trim comes with plenty of tech, and it offers the best front head and legroom of all crew cabs.
SLE
Also coming standard with a 2.7-liter turbocharged engine is the Sierra SLE. Like the Elevation, the 5.3-liter V8 and the Duramax turbo-diesel are available for this trim. You will get plenty of technology with this model, as well as the first-ever 6-function MultiPro tailgate. And it beats out the rest of the class when it comes to cargo bed volume.
Pro
The Sierra Pro also comes standard with a 2.7-liter turbocharged engine, though the 5.3-liter V8 is available. This base trim provides all of the standard GMC Pro Safety technologies, as well as the 6-function MultiPro tailgate. Like the SLE, it takes the class for cargo bed volume.
Overall Impression
GMC has taken it to the next level with the 2022 Sierra 1500. All models have received significant upgrades inside and out, and the all-new Denali Ultimate and AT4X trims are truly pickup trucks to behold. If you would like to see the revamped GMC Sierra for yourself, come by our dealership or give us a call at Liberty Buick today!

Complete prototypes of the 2022 Hummer EV are just now being built, but the non-running models that are available for inspection are out and they’re quite impressive. Every trim level of the all-new Hummer EV is inviting and futuristic, and we just can’t wait to step inside and fire one up! Until then, check out these updates on the 2022 GMC Hummer EV.
What We Know
Since last winter we have been gradually gathering information on the forthcoming electric Hummer EV and each month we get a little more excited. When the Hummer EV plays, it plays hard. With a wide body, specifically made to handle off-roading conditions, and a brute force that can push through mud and snow and just about anything you can throw at it, it’s difficult not to be impressed with it.
To say the least, drivers will be very happy with what GM has managed to pack into the new electric Hummer. Here are just a few important specs—surely there will be more to come soon:
Though Hummers were not made to venture on the moon, there is a clear moon theme happening with the Hummer EV. When GM went from the sketch pad to the production line in just two years with the new Hummer EV—it usually takes close to five years for something like this to happen—the quick turnaround in production was likened to the “moon shot,” a promise from President Kennedy to the US that we would put a human on the moon within nine years. Both situations contained a troublesome time crunch, but nothing to stand in the way of American ingenuity.
This dedication to innovation is plastered all over the new Hummer by way of “easter eggs” (precisely placed symbols such as the Hummer “H,” and many nods to space exploration). For example, the rear fender to the 2022 Hummer protrudes, as does the lower crossbar, which creates a not-so-obvious “H.” There is also a map of the Sea of Tranquility, first documented during the Apollo 11 landing, located on the speakers; and, under the driver’s-side carpet near the foot pedals, there is an imprint of Neil Armstrong’s moon boot. There are more, but we don’t want to ruin all the fun of finding them!
Even though it is big, the Hummer EV truck can move. Reports state it can go from 0-60 miles per hour in three seconds. It also has one of the fastest charging systems out so most of your time is spent on the road or off the road.
Let’s not forget that the Hummer EV will be powered by GM’s own Ultium batteries and Ultium Drive. These drive units give the vehicle major off-roading capabilities, in terms of power, which is a big part of the new Hummer’s lure—it’s tough and it likes to get dirty. The Hummer has truly been reborn to exemplify power and size without guzzling the gas—oh, and it produces zero emissions!
The vehicle has an “H” design distinctively placed inside and out (rear fender), and it has a host of advanced technology such as hands-free driving and the “crab walk,” which is a setting that allows the wheels to turn diagonally so the Hummer can quickly and easily get in and out of tight spaces.
When creating the Hummer EV, a strong focus was on the architecture of the machine. It does have a futuristic-spacy vibe to it, but there’s more. It’s also sophisticated with its squinted, long headlights and its sleek long body. It’s good to see Hummer still rolls with stoicism, this time a bit updated and a little cooler.
Every Hummer EV Edition 1 will be “identically appointed” and “fully equipped,” according to GM. All models will feature a white exterior and Lunar Horizon inside, along with special stitching and other undisclosed features. Made for off-roading to the extreme.
Here are a few more specifics:
- Super Cruise capability and three years of service
- Ultra Vision with High Definition Surround Vision
- A Digital Key
- 35-inch specialty tires
- An Infinity Roof
- Power rear drop glass
- Six-function MultiPro Tailgate, much the same as the GMC Sierra
- Has a removable top (not quite a T-top, but most of the ceiling does come out)
Reserving the New Hummer EV
Presently, the new Hummer EVs are being rigorously tested and evaluated before GM engineers take them to northern Michigan to test out their winter endurance in the coming months. It’s clear GM is holding nothing back with its new baby.
Though current reservations for the Hummer Edition 1 are full, other trim levels are still available. Simply go to the GMC website, choose your preferred trim, provide the necessary information, and complete the reservation agreement. It’s that easy. And for those of us too excited about driving an electric Hummer, our time will come. Stay in touch with Liberty Buick GMC for all the updates on the 2022 GMC Hummer EV.

For any truck driver, towing capability is a huge deal. So when GMC mentioned the possibility of a Sierra 1500 with hands-free towing, we came to attention. Hands-free?! It’s true, 2022 will bring about GMC’s new, Super-Cruise truck of the future and we can’t wait to get our hands on…well, off of it.
2022 is going to be a big year for the Sierra 1500. Actually, every year is a big year in the arena of GMC trucks. These are the top-of-the-line, luxuriously designed vehicles that have proven themselves time after time, working their way to the top. Every year, the Sierra (in all of its iterations) competes with the Ford F-150, the Nissan Titan, the Chevy Silverado, and Toyota Tundra. But the Sierra does not get intimidated easily, and the new Super Cruise version of the 1500 is sure to take things to the next level in the world of pickup trucks.
Though not all the details are out just yet, what we do know is the 2022 Sierra 1500 will now come with Super Cruise, the first hands-free driving experience that is compatible with main roads. This impressive new feature incorporates an innovative technology that allows for a much different driving experience. Just imagine changing lanes, parking, and even towing without even touching the steering wheel. It’s a wild thought, and it’s also a reality.
How it Works
It’s pretty straightforward, really. When you are sitting in the new Sierra getting ready to tow a heavy load, the truck will alert you when it is ready to take over. The driver simply presses the Super Cruise button (conveniently placed on the steering wheel) and a green light appears, letting you know it’s go time. At this point, the driver lets go of the wheel and the truck does the rest: rounds curves, drives straight, hits 70 miles-per-hour without hesitation, and it even has the internal intellect to estimate your trailer’s weight (it does this through high-level calculations of throttle position compared to the speed of the truck, which allows it to adjust for distance and weight). The truck will also adjust to high winds pushing against the trailer by slowing down or adjusting its position so there is no sway as it drives.
Another cool aspect of Super Cruise is that it can change lanes on demand by tapping the turn signal left or right. The truck will be able to sense whether it is safe or not to switch lanes, and once all is clear, it slowly and safely moves on over. But that’s not all! You can also set the Super Cruise to change lanes on its own, without the prompting of the driver. Using sensors, the truck can tell how fast the vehicle is moving in front of you, and if you are moving faster than it, the truck will either slow down or change lanes—whichever is the safer option. This capability of thinking for itself is what we call Level 3 Autonomy, something new and incredibly awesome.
The Always-Impressive Sierra 1500
The all-new GMC Sierra 1500 is pretty impressive with its innovative, self-driving features, but let’s be honest, the 1500 has been an impressive truck since its inception.
The time spent designing and detailing the Sierra is evident. A true sign a vehicle has been made with purpose and precision is not just seen in what is present, it also depends on what is absent. The Sierra has taken the “less is more” approach in many aspects of its design, and this approach has paid off nicely. You will not find a bunch of extra buttons and components that tend to break and cost money. Everything in and on the Sierra 1500 has a purpose, whether it is to help you drive more safely or to drive on its own, there is no superfluous activity going on here.
The base level of the Sierra 1500 has a 4.3-liter, 6-cylinder engine with 285 horsepower and 305 pound-feet of torque. It can tow up to 7,600 pounds and reach a speed of 60 miles an hour in around eight seconds. Pretty impressive for a base-level engine. If you find the need for a little more power, GMC still has you covered with the 1500. Sierra drivers can opt for the 5.3-liter, V-8 engine, which offers 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. And regardless of the engine size, all Sierra 1500s come with a tow/haul mode transmission and tap/shift controls. These controls make driving and distributing power much easier no matter the size of the load being carried.
Comfort and handling are exceptional in the Sierra 1500. There is the option for rear- or four-wheel drive, and the front strut and rear leaf-spring suspension offers an extra smooth ride no matter how many wheels are pushing you along. But, to truly understand the effect of the leaf-spring suspension you need to take the 1500 for a drive, preferably on a rough road or rigid path. You will be amazed at how well the suspension takes any pothole or bump and translates it as smooth, easy driving. In addition to an undisturbed ride, 1500 drivers will enjoy the crisp steering that allows the Sierra to easily make its way around sharp corners and fit into tight spaces.
Every aspect of the Sierra synthesizes together to create a powerful and luxurious driving experience. It’s not only the drive components providing a comfortable ride either. Inside the roomy cabin, the Sierra 1500 is filled with soft materials and pleasing aesthetics. The aluminum and wood trim pieces throughout the inside give a sense of luxury, while the plush seats and polished dash create a comfortable, happy environment.
The Sierra 1500 is surprisingly tough and pleasantly high-end. It offers superior comfort and power for being considered a light-duty truck. This is a perfect choice for the truck driver who needs something tough but doesn’t quite need a machine to pull super heavy loads on a daily basis.
Our Favorite Features of the Sierra 1500
At Liberty Buick GMC, we love the new Sierra. Its boxy frame is offset by subtle curves running the length of the long truck. The large, shiny grille seems to point from the sides to the crystal clear LED headlights. Plus, it comes in 11 different colors:
• Cardinal Red
• Onyx Black
• Quicksilver Metallic
• Summit White
• Satin Steel Metallic
• Pacific Blue Metallic
• Dark Sky Metallic
• Ebony Twilight Metallic
Inside the Sierra, we love the jet black materials, aluminum and wood accents throughout, the perforated leather seats. To keep you and your loved ones cozy and safe there are integrated storage bins set throughout, a Multi-color 3-inch by 7-inch Head-Up Display, USB ports, and plenty more surprises to keep everyone happy on long or short road trips.
The choice is easy. If you need a truck and are keen on the idea of your truck doing a bit of the driving for you, the GMC Sierra 1500 is the absolute best option. 2022 is right around the corner and we are sure to have a lot full of Super Cruisers waiting for you to drive. According to U.S. News & World Report, “On Wednesday, May 26, 2021, Lockheed and GM announced that they would combine their technological and manufacturing expertise to build the electric vehicles for NASA’s Artemis program, named after the twin sister of Apollo in Greek mythology (Lockheed Martin, GM via AP).” This is the first step towards revisiting the moon and ultimately returning to Mars.
This recently-formed relationship between GM and Lockheed has come about in the hopes of providing NASA with vehicles that are able to handle off-roading conditions, but without all the bulky weight that usually comes with that capability. They need to be light and rugged and able to perform better than the standard Lunar Rovers NASA has used in the past, even as far back as the 1970s—which were also designed by the GM Company.
GM and Lockheed working together are important for NASA because without having better mobility it is going to be difficult to further explore the wonders of the moon, not to mention expanding those explorations towards Mars. Just imagine what could be found if astronauts could venture farther than 4.5 miles from where they landed. With the likes of these two venerated companies, NASA will likely have their new space SUVs very soon.
The goal of the Artemis program is to have a return mission to the moon in 2024. By then, the plan is to have the first set of rovers that are able to carry two astronauts at once, and another rover type that can drive autonomously. A self-driving rover could explore a broader landscape, particularly those areas too dangerous for astronauts to go. It’s truly an exciting and progressive move that will surely bring about some exciting discoveries.
The Driverless Car is Nearly Upon Us
What once sounded like complete futuristic fantasy is now upon us: the autonomous car. Though we are not seeing them out and about just yet, the reality of the driverless car is very near.
It’s so close in fact, car companies such as BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, and Tesla are all working with the likes of Google and Apple to bring to life the car of the future. Sure, we’re not quite there yet, we are in what is considered to be the advanced testing stage and then production. Meaning that these machine-operated vehicles can, and will, be on the road. Countries all over the world are swarming to get in on the action by throwing millions of dollars towards the process of integrating self-drivers into society.
So what is keeping us from moving beyond the “advanced testing” stage? There seem to be some technical and ethical challenges engineers are struggling to solve. For instance, the driverless car will use cameras, radar, and lasers—yes, lasers—to measure distance and shapes. This is to help the vehicles “see” as a human would. And though efforts are being made to help driverless cars communicate with other cars, buildings, and signs, the problem remains that these vehicles are not able to communicate with other human drivers. What will the relationship of the driverless car be with the human-driven car? What happens if they collide? Who is at fault? These questions only scratch the surface of the depths of thought required to drive in high traffic, highways, and emergency situations, but there is no reason why companies such as GM can’t find ways of solving these setbacks.
While we wait for the driverless era to come upon us, there are plenty of new and used GM vehicles on the Liberty Buick GMC lot and at great prices.
Let’s be honest, the price of a vehicle can vary among different dealerships, but at the end of the day, most places will price-match, or at least get the numbers close. Though price does matter when it comes to buying a car, it’s not the biggest issue. What’s more important is the experience. At Liberty Buick GMC, it’s our transparency that is the secret of our success. All of our sales representatives, as well as all our technicians, believe you should never leave a dealership with an uneasy feeling in your gut.
We never want you to feel confused or duped into any purchase. Visit us at Liberty Buick GMC and we will help you find your next vehicle!

Though there has been a delay in the rollout of the all-new GMC Terrain crossovers, production on the 2022 models is currently underway. You can expect big upgrades and a brand new feature: All-Wheel-Drive. FWD to AWD is a big deal in the crossover/SUV world, one that solidifies the Terrain as more of a luxury ride than a middle-of-the-road vehicle. With new features and even better performance, 2022 might just be the year of the Terrain.
As modern crossovers and SUVs evolve, we are seeing a move from rugged mudslingers, towards tough luxury drivers. This push for comfort and aesthetic, while still maintaining that tough SUV persona, has driven the production of the GMC Terrain, slowly morphing it into a stoic family vehicle that can hold its own.
Adding all-wheel-drive to the Terrain is an important move for GMC because it further defines the venerated crossover as a step above. AWD offers more power than front-wheel-drive, but it doesn’t guzzle as much gas as four-wheel-drive. It’s a great in-between that still gives enough power for off-roading capabilities and can handle rough weather situations.
The only downside to the new Terrain is the fact that it was delayed due to the pandemic. There was meant to be a facelift and refresh for the Terrain in 2021, but that’s all history. The upside is GMC has been able to spend a bit more time with the Terrain, and we have some pretty cool upgrades because of it. Here are a few:
· Wireless Apple CarPlay along with Android Auto
· Head-up Display
· New renderings of the front and rear fascias
· A new rendering of the entire interior styling
As mentioned earlier, the 2022 Terrain is currently under production with a special all-wheel-drive Denali trim that begins production in September and, without further delays—fingers crossed!—we should see a rollout of the all-new GMC Terrain next year.
Luxury Crossovers
What makes luxury crossovers enticing is the fact they usually come with energy-efficient engines and body designs drawn for maneuverability and roominess. In fact, the biggest issue had with crossovers/SUVs of today is deciding which one fits your lifestyle and family size best. And by “one” we mean which trim level of Terrain because there are tons of options to choose from.
2022 will bring a full update to the GMC Terrain, the first biggest upgrade in a while. The new exterior has been made to look tougher than ever with sharp, bold features in shape—squared front and rear-ends, C-shaped corners, and optional LED running lights in the front bumper. Inside the Terrain is cozy and comfortable. The center dash is compressed to house the audio and climate controls. Everything is easily accessible due to plenty of shelves and cubbies for holding cell phones and snacks. And with the tasteful chrome trim, you can’t help but feel as though you are riding in a high-class luxury vehicle, rather than something cheap and plastic.
It’s pretty easy to tell that the GMC has always been reaching for luxury. The Terrain has always fit the crossover bill, but there is also more to it. Sure there are the basics, such as air conditioning, cruise control, power windows, locks, and mirrors, fog lamps, a rearview camera, ambient lighting, and plenty of other standard modern features. But there’s more. Depending on the level of trim chosen, Terrain drivers can include: automatic climate control, a premium pioneer sound system, heated front seats, a sunroof, and leather upholstery. And these are only a handful of the more luxury updates you can add to your new Terrain.
What to Look for in a Crossover
What should you look for in a crossover vehicle? Sure, it needs to be safe and roomy and quiet, etc. But, more specifically, what aspects should check the box?
The first thing you want to look for is a strong engine. No matter the reason for the purchase of such a vehicle, large family, hauling equipment, etc., it is important you are not driving something that is powered by an inadequate power source. This is why the new GMC Terrain comes optional with a 4 or 6-cylinder engine—and we highly recommend going for the 6. This particular engine is able to push 301 horsepower, as well as 272 feet of torque, which is more than enough power to ensure a longer lifespan for the vehicle and for it to pack enough punch to get the job done.
Next, you need to make sure your SUV has a quiet and comfortable ride. This is true with the purchase of any vehicle, but bigger cars tend to get a little louder and have a bit of a stiffer ride. Luckily, the Terrain has already been proven to counter these big-car issues. When starting up the Terrain, you will notice something wonderful: it’s super quiet. The 2022 model has been engineered specifically for silence. And, with its tight construction and smooth suspension, the ride is as nice as you will find in any costly sports utility vehicle on the road today.
Lastly, you want a vehicle with a good warranty. Even with the new Terrain being a high-quality machine, it’s always nice to prepare for the worst-case scenario. This is an area where the Terrain shines. With the 100,000-mile Powertrain Warranty, you are able to provide yourself with an extra ounce of security and peace of mind.
There are many reasons to place yourself inside the GMC Terrain, but its powerful engine and performance levels, comfy and smooth ride, and impressive warranty make the Terrain a hard one to pass up.
What GMC does extremely well, besides making the toughest trucks, crossovers, and SUVs around, is providing customers with a multitude of options, and people love options. It is a great feeling to have some say in what you buy, especially when the purchase is as large and important as that of a new vehicle. With GMC, you can peruse through numerous body styles, colors, and upgrade packages. And, we have tons of bright and shiny Terrains at Liberty Buick GMC.
Four Reasons to Buy a GMC
GMC creates trucks, SUVs, and vans, and of these vehicles, all are known for being built to last decades. So with this in mind, we have compiled four reasons to buy a GMC this year (though, to be honest, there are many more reasons to find yourself in a GMC).
Reason #1: Technologically Savvy
As vehicles become outfitted with technology to make them smarter, it can be both useful and frustrating—useful in the sense that the vehicle is more efficient but frustrating in the sense of having to learn the program from which your vehicle is linked. GMC offers, with all of its vehicles, its own infotainment system called IntelliLink. What’s nice about this system is that it’s easy to use. It comes voice activated with a seven-inch touch screen that is simply and cleanly designed. And although anyone can learn to use it, there is depth in what it can do: it connects, reacts, and navigates just as well as any other system out there today, and it teams with your GMC vehicle’s safety features so you have one less thing to worry about whether on a family road trip or heading off to work.
Reason #2: Accessibility
GMC has devised a door unlock/remote start that now comes standard with its vehicles. This may not seem of consequence right away, but just wait until your arms are filled with groceries and you are unable to open the door. Or think about those cold mornings when you wish your vehicle could be running, warming itself without you having to walk out to it. GMC loves to make things easier for drivers—and this is one of those things.
Reason #3: Top-of-the-Line Fuel Economy
GMC has delivered a 6-cylinder engine that goes up to 24 mpg. This is a big deal—especially since they did this in the Sierra, a full-sized pickup. So the question is if GMC can create a large vehicle to have great gas mileage, what can they do with smaller vehicles? Regardless of what you end up buying from GMC, you will save at the pump.
Reason #4: Innovation
GMC has created a trailering app for your phone, and it’s really useful. If you have a GMC truck, and use that truck to pull a trailer then you surely know the complications that can come when hitching the two together. However, with this new app, once you identify your specific vehicle, it gives you all the information you need to be sure you don’t detach at some point down the road. The app provides tips, commonly asked questions, and useful information, and is dedicated to helping novices, as well as, veterans hitch a trailer easily, effectively, and safely.
At Liberty Buick GMC, we take pride in our stock of GMC vehicles—all of them! If you are in the market for something a little bigger than a sedan, but without the mass of a bulky SUV, come visit us at Liberty and we can show you both new and used versions of the Terrain that just might be the perfect fit for you.

GMC’s world-class safety and driver assistance package will come standard on all 2022 Acadia models. The Pro Safety Plus package is one to be reckoned with, and its inclusion on the Acadia SLE, SLT, Denali, and AT4 trims will make this vehicle even safer than it was in previous years. And that’s saying something.
Below, we’ll cover these safety upgrades in more detail. And we’ll touch on some other notable features that make the 2022 Acadia stand out in a fiercely competitive midsize SUV market.
Pro Safety Plus
In years past, GM’s Pro Safety Package was optional on the Acadia. Now it’s standard across all trims, along with additional safety features. This is no small thing considering all that’s included with Pro Safety Plus, such as:
• Automatic Emergency Braking
• Front Pedestrian Braking
• IntelliBeam Headlamps
• Front and Rear Park Assist
• Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning
• Following Distance Indicator
• Forward Collision Alert
• Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert
• Rear Cross Traffic Alert
Let’s talk about a few of these features, as well as some additional advanced safety and driver assistance technology designed to optimize driver and passenger safety:
Automatic Emergency Braking — Using camera technology, this feature will automatically apply hard emergency braking to help prevent forward collisions. It works when your vehicle is traveling under 50 mph.
Rear Park Assist — Parking is made much easier with this feature, which detects nearby objects behind your vehicle and provides distance alerts to help you avoid low-speed accidents.
Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning — If you accidentally veer over one of your lane lines, this feature will detect it and gently nudge your steering wheel to alert you. It will also give you Lane Departure Warning alerts if necessary.
Forward Collision Alert — If you’re following a vehicle too closely or it detects a potential collision, this feature will alert you, leaving you with enough time to take action.
Adaptive Cruise Control — The Acadia Denali comes with adaptive cruise control, which automatically controls your speed so that you can maintain a driver-selected gap between you and the vehicles in front of you. Naturally, this prevents you from having to brake and accelerate frequently.
Teen Driver — Perhaps one of GM’s most unique safety features, Teen Driver comes standard on all Acadia trims. Along with allowing parents to set limits on infotainment and other features, this technology encourages good driving habits by activating specific safety systems. What’s more, you can access data via an in-vehicle report card to better teach your teen safe driving practices.
Safety Alert Seat — This technology uses vibration pulses on the left, right, and both sides of the driver’s seat to alert you of the direction of potential collisions. If you prefer, you can change the feature to beep instead of vibrate.
Rear Seat Reminder — Each time you park and turn the vehicle off, Rear Seat Reminder will chime five times and display a visual message on the Driver Information Center. This feature can prove invaluable if you drive with babies or keep important items in the backseat.
Other Changes
Along with providing some serious safety upgrades, GMC has made some other changes for the 2022 Acadia lineup worth noting. For example, there will no longer be an SL trim, nor will the Red Mahogany Metallic exterior color be available. Also, though it will still have six- and seven-passenger options available, you can’t get the AT4 in a five-passenger layout anymore. Moreover, the V92 trailering package used to only be available alongside the 3.6-liter V6 LGX engine, but you can now get it with the turbocharged 2.0-liter I4 LSY gasoline engine as well.
