Looking for the best back-to-school car means trying to find safety, endurance, and reliability all wrapped up in one vehicle. You want your kiddo rolling out of the driveway in a car that puts everyone at ease and both Buick and GMC have exactly what you need.
There are a few worthy cars for your child who’s off to school. It has to have great gas mileage, it needs to be roomy enough—but not too big; and, most importantly, it needs to be safe. Let’s look into each of these further:
Fuel Efficiency
Sending your graduate off to college means they will be traveling a lot. More than likely they will come home for Winter break, Summer, and whenever homesick. To lower the cost of driving back and forth, consider a hybrid. Within the past five years alone, hybrids and all-electric vehicles have soared in popularity and production. The advancements that have been made with these vehicles—and the fact that more and more car companies are producing electric/hybrid versions of our favorite vehicles—is plenty cause to go this route, not to mention the tax breaks!
Car Size
Remember having to choose between a large vehicle or one with good gas mileage? Not the case any longer. As mentioned above, the increase in e-vehicles has helped lower the amount of fuel used on sedans, but also trucks, SUVs, crossovers. When it comes to the size of the vehicle, what you need to consider is the driver. You know your young adult, you have watched (in panic at times) him drive, and you know what she can handle. Go with that knowledge. If you have a kid who is able to park and handle a larger SUV or truck, go for it. If a sedan or smaller crossover is more his or her speed, go with that.
Cargo Space
No matter the size of the car you end up with, make sure there is enough room in the back. College students move so many times it’s hard to keep track of where they are: from dorm to dorm, apartment then back home for the Summer. Instead of paying for a moving service or vehicle, the amount of cargo space in your recent graduate’s vehicle can save time and money. When looking for a car for your soon-to-be college student, cargo space is everything.
Safety
One of the biggest concerns parents have with sending their recent grad off to college is safety. Thankfully, modern vehicles are safer than they have ever been with the use of 360-degree radar and camera views; smart technology that senses possible collisions before they even happen and can even help correct steering—or wake up the driver! There is an exhaustive list of new safety features and more features to come, all of which can be tailored to your young driver’s liking.
Buick Encore GX
The sleek new Encore GX has quickly become all the rage. An already successful crossover vehicle, the 2021 Encore GX arrives with a brand new look, feel, and size. The all-new Encore GX fits itself perfectly between the subcompact Encore and the compact Envision, in terms of size, and it makes big moves by way of upgrades, all of which are great for your soon-to-be long-distance driver. Buick brings excitement to the crossover market, which your son or daughter will like.
Crossover vehicles (a modern morphing of a sedan and an SUV) have now become such a part of our lives, it seems that’s mostly what we see out on the roads. It’s no surprise car manufacturers have taken notice of this, and we are seeing the crossover market grow at an incredible rate—in particular, smaller crossovers. Vehicles like the Jeep Compass, Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross, the Subaru Crosstreck, and the soon-to-arrive Mazda CX-30 are all creating their own habitat within the crossover family. The 2021 Buick Encore is a perfect addition to this lineup; only it’s not just another pretty face. The new Encore GX takes the lead by adding extra style, luxury, and technology to the standard Encore, making it a perfect fit for a young driver.
GMC Terrain
The new GMC Terrain is being praised for its seamless transitions between gears and its smooth, quiet ride, which is why we suggest this for those venturing out a ways from home. The Terrain is particularly regaled for its roomy interior structure, showcasing a truly luxurious cabin. After taking a test drive, one of the first things you will notice is its uncanny way of keeping outside noise out and inside noise in. Another aspect that helps with long road trips is the wonderfully comfortable seats—five in all (two bucket and a bench behind), and they are able to keep the rider comfortable for extended periods of time, as well as anyone else along for the ride. Additionally, there is more than enough leg, head, and cargo space, proving itself more than capable of making any trip easy and relaxing.
The new Terrain comes standard with Bluetooth, a rearview camera, and a large display screen with USB port access. It also comes with the option for a Pioneer audio system, leather upholstery, GMC’s IntelliLink infotainment system, and rear parking sensors, allowing for access to nearly anything one could need while driving. And there are more features (safety and others) for you and yours to choose from.
Our Service Department
Don’t forget about our service department either. If your child already has a dependable vehicle, you will want to have it serviced—give it a good once-over at the very least—before he or she heads off to school.
During the hot summer months extreme temperatures, especially here in the South, can wreak havoc on your car in all sorts of ways. This is why the service department at Liberty Buick GMC is running summer specials to make sure your college-bound child doesn’t get stranded on the way to campus.
When temperatures reach the 90s or above, it’s inevitable, your vehicle will be affected. Everything from tires, down to windshield wipers, the heat does its damage. The summer sun can warp, loosen, even melt those softer materials. And it can fade or crack the harder pieces of the vehicle.
Some of these things you can check on your own. Engine coolant, oil, windshield wiper fluid, and tire pressure are all pretty easy and quick to check. And you should every few weeks. Especially the engine coolant and oil. Low levels of either one of these can cause major damage to your car.
But what about the more technical parts of your vehicle? Things like tire rotation, tire alignment, battery testing, and a complete vehicle inspection. These tend to be the things that go wrong during the summer, mostly because they are not easy to check. And you don’t want any family member driving without knowing everything is in its right place and operating properly. Our service professionals will complete a thorough search of your car to make sure the youngsters are in good hands.
Here are just a few of the specials running this summer at Liberty’s service department:
• 5-quart oil change, 4-tire rotation, and multipoint vehicle inspection for $39.95
• ACDELCO professional brake pads installed for $99.95 per axle
• Free battery test and inspection
• Free multipoint inspection
• Tire rotation for only $14.95
• Four-wheel alignment for $59.95
And these are not all. It’s just not worth taking the risk this summer, especially when Liberty Buick GMC’s service department is running specials with prices this good. Be sure and schedule your appointment soon, and stay safe on the road to success!

If you’re ready to part ways with your current vehicle and purchase a new one, trading it in at a dealership is the easiest way to go. And with inventory lower than normal right now, it’s a seller’s market, which means it’s the perfect time to trade-in.
In the simplest terms, trading in your car means that you sell your current car to a dealer for a reduced purchase price of a new car. The amount your dealer provides for the trade-in is taken off the value of your new vehicle.
Liberty Buick GMC works with car buyers from a variety of financial situations and backgrounds. If you’re in the market for a new vehicle, here are some of the main benefits of trading in your car, as well as tips for how you can prepare for a smooth process:
Reasons to Trade Your Car In
Trading in your vehicle is much easier than trying to sell it by yourself. It can save you a great deal of time and can even prove to be the most cost-effective route of parting ways with your current car in the long run. Here are a few of the many details of why a trade-in could make sense for you:
It all happens in one place.
You can drive your old vehicle into the dealership and drive away in your new vehicle within hours. Liberty Buick GMC will go to great lengths to make it as easy and fast as possible for you!
It means less paperwork for you.
If you sell your car privately, you will have a lot of paperwork to deal with, especially if you’re living or selling out of state. Trade your car in, and the dealer will handle most of it for you.
You pay less on sales tax.
Many states allow dealers to deduct the trade-in value of your car from the purchase price of the new car, resulting in some serious savings on sales tax. For example, if the dealer offers you $12,000 for your trade-in and you want to buy a new car for $30,000, you would pay sales tax on the net value of $18,000 instead of the full purchase price of $30,000.
Your existing loan will be taken care of.
If you still owe money on your current car, it might be challenging to find a buyer who is willing to take on that loan. You don’t have to worry about that at a dealership. The dealer will pay off the remaining balance of your loan and get the title directly from the lender.
Getting Your Car Ready
To make your trade-in as quick and simple as possible, here are a few ways you can prepare your vehicle before coming into the dealership:
Bring the Essential Documents
You’ll probably get more for your current vehicle if you provide service records and receipts that prove you’ve consistently taken it in for preventative maintenance. It’s also a good idea to come prepared with paperwork that shows any repairs that were made due to accidents. If you own the car outright, you’ll want to bring along the car’s title.
Give Your Car a Quick Clean
The dealership will clean and recondition your car after you trade it in, so there’s no reason for you to do a deep clean beforehand. That said, making a good first impression never hurts. Consider spending just a few minutes cleaning up your vehicle by taking it through a car wash, throwing away trash, and vacuuming the cabin.
Don’t Worry About Repairs
Along with detailing and reconditioning services, the dealer will factor in the costs of any repair and maintenance needed on your trade-in. Dealers typically get discounts on these services from repair shops, so you’ll end up paying less by allowing them to take care of any damages than you would if you paid for it through a third party.
Getting Yourself Ready
Beginning the trade-in process is as easy as walking into a dealership and telling a staff member that you want to trade in your vehicle. Or, you can even spend 15 minutes filling out a value estimation form on the dealership’s website.
When you arrive at the dealership, a staff member will inspect your vehicle and provide an appraisal value. Their offered value will primarily hinge on the following factors:
· How many people have owned the vehicle (single-owner is best)
· The overall condition of the vehicle (appearance and mechanics)
· The condition of the tires and whether they match
· The car’s exterior paint color (neutral colors typically bring more value than vibrant colors)
Finally, if your vehicle has a lot of factory upgrades, it will fare better than the base model. But be careful with aftermarket add-ons. Some dealers might add a little value for certain upgrades that you’ve done yourself, while others will frown upon them. The safest bet is to replace your aftermarket upgrades with the factory parts if you still have access to them.
Conclusion
It doesn’t get much more exciting than buying a new car. And when parting ways with your current vehicle is as easy as bringing it to a dealership and driving home in your new vehicle, it makes the experience all the sweeter. Choosing the right vehicle is not only about taste, it’s also about safety. Luckily, with car companies like GMC, you can have both! Style, safety, and performance are three very important foundational factors to every vehicle produced by GMC. At Liberty Buick GMC, we are excited to share the GMC brand’s three levels of safety so you can see for yourself just how dedicated this car company is to produce the toughest and safest vehicles on the road today.
It’s one thing to produce a myriad of safety features for a product, but it takes a bit more foresight to cull those features into categories—levels, even—of effectiveness so that the customer can see exactly how these methods piece together to keep those riding inside the vehicle safe. Categorizing safety features is also a great way for customers to choose the ones that are best suited for them.
To make things easy, GMC has broken down its approach to driver (and passenger) safety into three levels: See It, Sense It, and Help Prevent It.
GMC’s Three Levels of Safety
See It.
Basic safety begins with what you can see, and luckily GMC has grouped together various monitoring systems so you can see way more than only what’s in front of you. Here is what GMC has to offer:
· High Definition Rear Vision Camera
Remember how excited we all were when the first rear vision camera came out—that grainy, black and white video feed? Now, not only is the digital video in color, but it’s also in high definition. This camera gives a wide view of the happenings behind you, all right there to see on the Infotainment display screen.
· High Definition Surround Vision
This digital bird’s-eye view comes at high definition and gives a crystal clear image of the area around your vehicle—when driving at low speeds. The image of your area pops up on the Infotainment display, helping you to avoid objects and perfectly park in just about any spot.
· Hitch Guidance with Hitch View
Using the Rear Vision Camera, this special feature enables you to align your GMC with a trailer by using a zoom camera that can pan and tilt. Not only that, once the trailer is connected and you are driving down the road, you can view the trailer while driving.
· Rear Camera Mirror
What we like about this camera is that you can use it inside the mirror or you can use the camera mirror display, which gives a clear, wide image and you can zoom and tilt vertically.
Sense It.
Now that we have your visuals covered (by allowing you to see all around your vehicle in real-time), what about those sticky situations where you can’t see? GMC thought of that too and has provided some amazing sensory safety technology.
· Following Distance Indicator
This clever tool is set to keep you at a particular distance behind the vehicle in front of you (you can readjust the setting to be closer or farther if you’d like). If your car creeps up too close, the Following Distance Indicator will alert you immediately so you can quickly apply the brake.
· Forward Collision Alert
Similar to the previous feature, Forward Collision Alert uses sensors to indicate the space between you and the vehicle ahead, only this detects and alerts when a front-end collision is imminent—for instance, if the vehicle ahead is at a complete stop as you come upon it, the FCA will give you more time to apply the brake. This is one feature you hope to never have to use, but it’s one that can definitely save lives.
· Front and Rear Park Assist
Park assist detects objects or people around you when you are driving at low speeds—typically, used when parking or navigating through congested areas. We have found this feature to improve even the worst of parallel parkers.
· Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert
Have you ever noticed a little light that appears on the side mirrors of other, newer, vehicles as you pass by them? That’s what this is. Anytime a car pulls up next to you whether you are moving at high or low speeds, a light will appear on your side mirror to let you know that, even if you can’t see it, there is a vehicle beside you.
· Lane Departure Warning
This warning feature can be turned on or off by the driver, and it’s perfect for long drives, as it helps to keep you from drifting out of your lane. When you are driving, and you begin to veer, the steering wheel will tighten up (not completely, just enough to get your attention) so you know to correct. If you are changing lanes, simply put the blinker on to disengage the Lane Departure Warning.
· Safety Alert Seat
This specialized seat vibrates and pulses at the bottom for various warnings—this is an option instead of having auditory or visual warnings. This is a great option to keep you safe when you have a car full of talkative kids, or you feel like blasting your favorite song.
Help Prevent It.
The most advanced safety technology is that which can presuppose possible accidents. Check out what GMC has to offer in this high-tech area:
· Adaptive Cruise Control—Advanced
This is one of our favorite safety features, as it enhances the regular cruise control by incorporating specialized sensors and radar technology so that your car can adapt to the driving conditions around it. For example, once you have set the preferred distance between your car and those ahead of it, Adaptive Cruise Control—Advanced, will speed your car up or slow it down in order to maintain that distance.
· Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking
When driving below 50 miles per hour, this feature will alert you if there is the potential for a front-end collision, and it will also automatically apply emergency braking if the driver does not respond quickly enough.
This feature works for pedestrians as well. If the Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking system detects a person, or people—even animals—it will alert and begin braking.
The Importance of Basic Safety
With more drivers on the road than ever before, knowing you are safe while traveling is of increasing importance. Modern, advanced safety features are doing wonders to keep us safe, but it’s also important not to forget two basic safety steps:
1. Buckle Up—and Stay Buckled. It’s such a simple thing to do and it can save your life, yet 11.5 percent of Americans do not buckle up. Once you do hear that click, make sure you stay buckled while the vehicle is moving. It can be tempting once a child starts crying, or a pet gets loose, to unbuckle and quickly help out. But it’s always best to simply pull over, stop the car, and remedy the situation safely.
2. Have the Car Right Seats for Children. If you have small children, you know not all car seats are the same in terms of quality, and it may take a little research to find the best one for your child—Consumer Reports has reviews on all the top brands. Once you do find the right one for your kiddo, have it installed professionally to learn the correct procedure (currently, over 40 percent of car seats are installed incorrectly!).
At Liberty Buick GMC, we are all about safety. If you have any questions about the features mentioned, and/or if you want to know which safety features will best benefit you and your family, come see us or visit us online! Stay safe!

You deserve a truck that can handle anything thrown at it. Summer is right around the corner and there are plenty of projects to complete, so you want a truck designed to thrive on your jobs—whether personal or professional. You need a truck that can handle heavy-duty pulling and towing. Your need a GMC Sierra, but which one is right for you?
The type of truck you drive says something about the quality of work you perform and it helps to show the type of person you are. Choosing a make and model of truck is integral to your success, so why choose anything other than the best? Within the Sierra family, you are sure to find the one that strikes your fancy. Let’s take a closer look at what GMC has to offer.
Choosing the Right GMC Sierra Truck
Since 1902, GMC has been making other truck companies envious of the Sierra. Through the years, the venerated GMC Sierra truck has won countless awards and praises, and what we have come to find is that there really isn’t a wrong Sierra to choose, as they all perform at incredibly high levels.
We encourage anyone interested in driving a new or used Sierra truck to first come into Liberty Buick GMC today and open the hood of an all-new GMC Sierra to see for yourself just how impressive the mechanics of this machine are. When it comes to performance, you will not find a better truck. For example, on the lowest end, the Sierra comes with a 4.3-liter, V-6 engine that can go from 0 mph to 60 mph in just under 8 seconds. But, if the work you do requires a bit more power, check out the 5.3-liter, V-8 engine that has 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. And this bigger engine can tow up to 11,100 pounds! However, if that is still not enough power for you there’s another: a 6.2-liter, V-8 engine with a 12,500-pound towing capacity plus 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Now that is a lot of power.
If the GMC Sierra’s performance levels impress you, wait until you experience the comfort and quality of its cabin. The interior of the GMC Sierra is large, no matter which model you choose. There is plenty of room to stretch and move around. The seats themselves are plush and easy to nestle into. The driver’s seat allows you to position yourself perfectly, thanks to the power-adjustable pedals and steering wheel that tilts and telescopes. There are plenty of soft-touch materials covering the interior, and chrome accents border sections of the dash’s control panel and steering wheel to make the cabin pop. Ambient lighting sets a comforting, cool mood. Drivers also get up to five USB ports with both 12- and 110-volt compatibility points so that you are able to charge just about anything from your phone to a laptop. There is more than enough storage room in the middle section of the front seat, and even more can be found in the door panels as well as below the seats. And, to isolate the interior from the exterior, triple door seals are used to block outside noise from polluting the quiet and smooth ride within.
This leads us to the drive itself. All GMC Sierra trucks operate with a front strut and rear leaf-spring suspension. This provides extra cushion and makes the impact of bumps and potholes virtually nonexistent. And if you are worried about drive quality when hauling extra big loads, you can opt for the Magnetic Ride Control, which helps reduce intense up-and-down motions. This will also help the steering and control to the Sierra, no matter what you are hauling or pulling, to be responsive and fluid.
So Which Sierra is the Best Fit For You?
The 1500, 2500, or 3500? They all pack a punch and come with their own special features and areas of power. Let’s start by looking at some specific specs and features for each of the three models.
The baseline 1500 is available in a 5.3- or 6.2-liter EcoTech3 V-8 engine. In certain trim levels, the 1500 comes with the Z71 off-road suspension system. GMC LED daytime running lights, Stabilitrak, a corner step rear bumper, hydraulic body mounts, and triple door seals come standard with all GMC Sierra 1500 trim levels. As far as towing, the 1500 can handle up to 9,500 pounds with ease. This truck is good for not only hauling and pulling, but it also truly excels in drive quality.
Stepping it up a notch, the 2500 offers everything the 1500 does and more. It comes with a 5.3-liter, V-8 or a 6.6-liter, V-8 Duramax diesel engine. The 2500 also has an Allison Series 1000 transmission, an available spray-on bed liner, and a digital steering assist. And, it has a whopping 14,500 pounds towing capacity. If you need something that can handle those heavier loads and pull some bigger equipment, the GMC Sierra 2500 is for you and bigger jobs.
At the top level, the 3500 exceeds expectations. This truck was built especially for trailering, hauling, and can handle as much as 23,200 pounds (using fifth-wheel trailering). The 3500 comes with Digital Steering Assist to help keep control of those heavy payloads, and there is what’s called Hill Start Assist, which momentarily holds the breaks while you switch your foot from the brake pad to the gas. This is especially useful on inclines or unstable surface areas. The 3500 offers everything the other two models do, plus a few extras like an EZ-Lift and Lower tailgate, chrome trailering mirrors, an automatic locking rear differential, and comes in a 6.2-liter engine or a 6.6-liter, V-8 Duramax diesel.
The best part of choosing a GMC Sierra is that you can basically build your own. There are numerous GMC Sierra packages to choose from and even more trim-level features to sift through and add on. So if there are aspects you like of all three GMC Sierra models, you can piece together a version that works perfectly for you. This is helpful because you don’t end up getting your crew trucks that have unneeded features or capabilities and your trucks are customized to your company’s needs.
The idea of the workman’s truck has come a long way. Just as we are becoming ever more convenient and efficient, so are our tools and accessories. Before a truck was a mode to transfer materials from one place to another or even to pull around farm equipment. Pretty simple, but useful. Now, in addition to hauling materials and pulling heavy machinery, the modern truck is the command center, the hub from where the work begins.
And of these mobile command centers, which is the most reliable and handy? The GMC Sierra does the most and does it well. Inside its luxurious cabin, you will find yourself seated in a high-tech control center—the leather-trimmed seats with accent stitching face an intelligent-looking console and dash enabled to read your text messages, turn into a Wi-Fi hotspot, and guide you to job sites. It has plenty of power connectors with six USB ports, a 110-volt electric outlet, and an area in the console designated to hold a laptop and a tablet. There is more interior room than you could ever use—with the plush, pillowed seats, you won’t want to leave. Come see us today and drive away in a new Sierra truck.

There are many benefits to taking a road trip during summer. For instance, it allows your family to go at their own pace and experience various natural wonders and communities. You have complete control of where you go and when, and if you decide it’s time to move onto your next destination, you can do just that. It’s also one of the most cost-effective ways to travel, and as long as you can fit it in your car, you can pack anything you want.
As great as road trips can be, however, they require planning and preparation if they are to be successful. Liberty Buick GMC is here with some practical advice on how to prepare your vehicle, determine what items to pack, and create the perfect summer road trip playlist:
Servicing Your Vehicle
Let’s begin with your car. Here are some of the primary factors to consider when determining if your vehicle is ready for the open road:
The Brakes
Screeching, grinding, or excessive vibration from your brakes is a sign that work needs to be done. Have your brakes checked by a trusted mechanic to see if you need new brake pads or rotors.
The Tires
As with brakes, your tires are not something you want to be compromised when driving on a long trip. Put a quarter upside down into the tread grooves of each tire; if you can see Washington’s head, then it means your tread is too low. Cracks, cuts, and sidewalk bulges are other signs that you need a tire replacement.
The Fluids
There are several fluids your car needs in order to operate safely, and it’s essential to ensure each of them is filled to appropriate levels before you hit the road. First, check your engine oil, and change the oil and filter if necessary. Remember to consider the miles you will put in your vehicle throughout the trip. Brake fluid, transmission fluid, power steering fluid, coolant, and windshield wiper fluid are others you’ll want to check.
The Battery
No one wants their car battery to give out on the open road. Get your battery capacity tested by a professional, make sure the hardware that constrains the battery is tight, and clean and tighten the battery connections.
The Belts and Hoses
Your vehicle’s belts are responsible for the operation of your engine’s water pump, alternator, and AC compressor. If they’re damaged, cracked, or glazed, they should be replaced. Moreover, replace the hoses around your radiator if they are excessively soft, brittle, or bulging.
The AC
Air conditioning is key to a comfortable summer road trip. If you notice your AC capacity dropping at all, have it professionally diagnosed. While you’re at it, get the cabin filter evaluated and replaced if necessary.
Best Summer Road Trip Songs
Entertainment is crucial when it comes to road trips, and preparing a killer playlist for your family will pay off big time as you’re coasting down the highway. While there are millions of songs out there, here are some of our favorites to consider downloading on your phone or iPod:
· “Where the Streets Have No Name” by U2
· “Born to Run” by Bruce Springsteen
· “Little Red Corvette” by Prince
· “Truckin’” by Grateful Dead
· “Free Bird” by Lynyrd Skynyrd
· “Sweet Caroline” by Neil Diamond
· “Go Your Own Way” by Fleetwood Mac
· “Smile” by Katy Perry
· “Shake It Off” by Taylor Swift
· “The Middle” by Grey, Maren Morris, and Zedd
· “We Found Love” by Rihanna (feat. Calvin Harris)
· “Since U Been Gone” by Kelly Clarkson
· “Somebody That I Used to Know” by Gotye
· “A Sky Full of Stars” by Coldplay
· “Hey Ya!” by Outkast
· “Rolling in the Deep” by Adele
· “Holocene” by Bon Iver
What to Pack
Thankfully, traveling by car isn’t quite as restrictive as flying when it comes to what you can pack. Be sure to include these essentials for your family:
· All necessary travel documents
· Clothes that can mix and match
· Casual shoes and flip-flops
· Blankets and travel pillows
· Bottled water
· Prescription and pain medications
· Healthy snacks
You’ll also want to bring whatever accessories will help make the trip as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Items to consider include tablets, tote bags, batteries, universal chargers, flashlights, sunblock, and handy wipes. And of course, if you have small children, bringing some entertainment options is crucial. Along with any electronic devices, pack some of their favorite toys and board games.
Conclusion
To get the most out of your family road trip this summer, be sure to plan and prepare. Along with following the tips above for servicing your car, putting together a playlist, and choosing what to pack, keep researching other ways that you can make for a safe and comfortable experience. And remember to bring your vehicle into Liberty Buick GMC for all of your servicing needs!
What to Expect from the Upcoming GMC Hummer EV SUV (and How to Reserve Yours)

In 2020, it’s almost as if automakers banded together to provide some hope to fans of classic off-road vehicles—something positive in a year that would prove difficult for so many people for a variety of reasons. Surely, that’s why we’ve seen the reemergence of several legendary 4×4 nameplates, right?
Or, it could simply be that automakers are not going to let their competitors one-up them (admittedly, this is the most likely reason). Whatever the case, here we are in 2021, and we’ve learned that one of the most anticipated vehicles in recent memory is set to hit dealerships in early 2023: the GMC Hummer EV SUV. If you thought the Humvees of old were tough, well, it’s safe to say that this new era will not disappoint.
GMC is accepting reservations for its new creation, and there are no strings attached. All you have to do is register for your preferred trim and pay a fully refundable $100 deposit. That’s right—registering puts you under no obligation to actually buy the vehicle, but it will hold your spot in line. Whether you’re dead-set on purchasing the GMC Hummer EV SUV or are just a spectator, there’s really no downside to making a reservation.
Liberty Buick GMC is here with the skinny on what consumers can look forward to from the 2024 Hummer EV SUV, as well as some details about the registration process:
GMC Hummer EV SUV Trims
As with the pickup version, the GMC Hummer EV SUV is set to offer four trims over the first several years of its release, all varying in features and price: the Edition 1, 3X, 2X, and 2. Here’s the gist of what we know about each model:
Hummer EV Edition 1
The first trim of Hummer EV SUVs is called the “Edition 1.” It is set to roll into dealerships in early 2023 as a 2024 model, and it will be the fully-loaded version of the SUV.
While this run of special editions is limited, GMC has not articulated exactly how many will be available. We do know that reservations for the Edition 1 are full, but consumers can still get on the waitlist, which could come in handy if a considerable number of reserved consumers back out or if the automaker decides to raise the ceiling on production.
For the initial launch, the GMC Hummer EV SUV Edition 1 will come in Moonshot Green Matte exterior paint with black above the beltline. The grille consists of a crystal light that displays “HUMMER,” and there are several “H” graphics sprinkled around the SUV. As far as power goes, you can expect up to 830 horsepower and a 0-60 mph of 3.0 seconds. The first available model will be an on-road edition that includes 22-inch premium wheels, assist steps, special badging, and floor liners. The price is $105,595, which is $7,000 less than the Edition 1 of its pickup truck sibling.
Buyers who want the off-road package will need to spare $5,000 more, and in return, will get 18-inch wheels with 35-inch tires, underbody armor, heavy-duty half shafts, rock sliders, and a front eLocker and virtual rear lockers. Even bigger tires (37-inch) will be an option from dealers.
Other Trims
The Hummer EV SUV 3X and 2X models are expected to arrive at dealerships in Spring 2023. The former still offers three electric motors and starts at $99,995. The latter is equipped with two motors, is estimated at 625 hp and a 0-60 mph of 4.0 seconds, and comes with a starting price of $89,995. The base two-motor Hummer EV SUV (the EV2) is anticipated for a release in spring 2024 at $79,995. It provides the same power as the 2X, though the range on a single charge falls from 300 to 250 miles. This model uses 400-volt fast charging, but you can opt for 800 volts, which is what all other Hummer EV SUV models come with.

Buicks are one of America’s most reliable brands, and now more than ever, Buick’s dedication to building formidable, classic vehicles is paying off. Since American-made cars are coming off the line faster than ever, there are more Buick vehicles available, and as always, at a great price. At Liberty Buick GMC, we have everything you need to know about why this year is the best year to buy a Buick.
Over the past seven years, Buick has managed to completely overhaul its entire lineup of vehicles. The veteran car company has taken a classic that has been around longer than most other sedans, the Regal, and successfully turned it into a luxurious, sturdy, and powerful machine—something many other American car companies are still struggling to produce in a sedan. Buick has also created something new and enticing in the Encore, a compact SUV. This sporty ride has helped provide a new face for Buick, something brighter and more vibrant, and this “new vibe” seems to be working for the car company. If Buick has lacked in distant years with marketing themselves as a competitive car company, it sure doesn’t show now. Buick is not only in the game, they are upfront helping to lead the charge.
A Couple of Our Favorites
The Buick Encore and the Buick Enclave are excellent SUV choices. Each has its own unique characteristics and special features, but they both share in Buick’s commitment to quality, and both have served as a perfect foil to overpriced, luxury SUVs. With the Encore and Enclave, you get the luxury, not the superfluous cost.
Let’s start with the Buick Encore. Slated as a “Premium Small SUV,” this is slightly smaller of the two SUVs, and though it might not be considered as family-friendly as the Enclave, the Encore is perfect for the commuter. It comes with premium comfort, a quiet ride, and a number of impressive features. Under the hood, the all-new Buick Encore has a 1.4-liter turbocharged, four-cylinder engine with six-speed automatic transmission. It sits high, and even though it’s not the biggest SUV on the lot, it still has plenty of room to stretch and store and relax. As anyone who lives in or near the city knows, traffic in Charlotte is fun. The standstill can be painful, but it doesn’t have to be, especially with great fuel economy. 24 mpg city and 32 mpg highway keep dollars in your pocket—honestly, these numbers sound more like that of a small sedan than an SUV. But the Encore is not your normal SUV: Rather than a gas-guzzling six or eight-cylinder engine, the Encore incorporates a turbocharged four-cylinder engine that saves you at the pump but gets you moving when you need to. And, it comes with the Buick Infotainment System, and available Alexa Built-In, which keep your hands free and always connected.
Though the pollen is just a tad disagreeable at the moment, once everything is in bloom and the Allegra has kicked in, you remember that the nice thing about living in a city with winding roads, arching hills, and endless trees is the natural beauty they provide. This is where the comfort of the Buick Encore comes into play. The substantially plush front seats keep you comfortable for long periods of time. The surprisingly spacious back seats have plenty of room for stretching out and enjoying the seemingly always-green landscapes of the QC. And the mix of muted colors and line-work throughout the Encore’s interior induce a calm, tranquil atmosphere, keeping you happy the entire ride home.
Enclave
Buick’s truest family vehicle is the Enclave. Buick created the Enclave back in 2008 with the understanding that modern drivers needed something that had the look and sophistication of a luxury SUV, but the roominess and comfort of a minivan. The result was a high-selling crossover vehicle that continues to be praised for its classy look—chrome waterfall grille and curvy line work throughout the body—and its ability to haul up to seven passengers without feeling stuffed.
With its three rows of seating, it can hold up to seven passengers comfortably. Its ultra-smooth ride is due to the tough 3.6-liter, V-6 engine, which has noticeable punch and power. The “Three Row, Premium SUV” Enclave comes with 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, nine-speed automatic transmission, all-wheel drive, plus available WiFi hotspots and so much more.
Whether you are a single commuter or a small family driver looking for something smooth and stylish, or you need something roomy and powerful enough for fun trips with the entire crew, Buick has the vehicle for you.
What We Have on the Lot
Buick wins for having some of the best deals in pricing this November. Not only is the Buick company doing a bang-up job at reintroducing its lineup to the general public with innovative designs and superior performance, but it also knows the importance of offering a great deal. For instance, right now you can finance varying models for as low as zero percent and get incredible cash-back rebates (be sure to check out other small-print dealer rebates too).

Top 5 Reasons To Buy A Buick
The Buick brand continues to accelerate as vehicle sales increase among an ever-growing customer base. The American car company’s updated marketing plan and bold new colors and designs are keeping Buick relevant, innovative, and impressive—increasingly to younger drivers. Here are five reasons you should be driving a one:
- A competitive lineup. Over the recent years, Buick has overhauled its complete lineup of vehicles. Paying more attention to details such as performance, up-to-date technology, design, and safety, Buick has been able to create a collection of cars and SUVs that hold high levels of luxury at a reasonable price.
- Luxury at a low price. Buick is considered a luxury line of vehicles, and if you have driven any of the new models, you’re likely to agree. The extra-smooth ride and handling. The plush seats and calm, cool interior lighting. It all makes you feel like you are in something elegant and expensive. But what makes this luxury car company unique is the level of quality you get for such a reasonable price. Buick has bridged the gap between reasonable pricing and high quality. And continuously high sales and vehicle ratings show this is paying off big.
- No strings attached. When buying a Buick there are no gimmicks. What you see is what you get. All warranties, for used or new Buicks, are clear and honest, and you never have to worry about inflated costs for basic necessities like oil changes and tire replacements. The Buick brand works against the notion that all car companies and car sellers are trying to pull the wool over the consumer’s eyes. A clear and honest approach to car building and selling is the only way Buick operates.
- A bright future. Buick is the oldest running American car company. And it is thriving. Buicks sell all over the world—China is actually the company’s biggest market. And the company has big plans for impressive new vehicles to come out. When you buy Buick you support quality craftsmanship, honest marketing, and good old American ingenuity.
No matter how you cut it, Buick is pretty impressive. It’s not just the vehicles they make, it’s the thought and care that goes into every detail of the entire process. They choose to be honest and forthright in what they do. There are no scandals, no pretending to be something they are not. And that’s the same type of operation being run at Liberty Buick GMC. We are here to serve you, and that means honesty and expertise from start to finish. Come in and see us today at Liberty Buick GMC and let us get you into a brand new Buick or GMC—you will be glad you made the choice to car shop with us.

General Motors has made no secret about its plans for electric vehicles in the future. For several years, the auto manufacturer has released EV concepts and information for its four primary brands: GMC, Buick, Chevrolet, and Cadillac.
Those plans have only strengthened in recent months. GM seems more convinced than ever that the future of the auto industry lies in all-electric vehicles that not only will benefit the environment but will ultimately cost less to drive. Part of the plan is to release 30 new EVs by the 2025 model year. Below, we’ll look at GM’s strategy.
GMC and Buick’s upcoming EVs.
30 EVs by 2025
If there were any doubts about GM’s commitment to fighting climate change and raising the bar for the rest of the auto industry, those doubts were laid to rest in recent months. We now know that GM has big plans for electrification and is working hard to execute the plans within a relatively quick timeframe.
Before the COVID-19 pandemic hit, GM announced that it would invest $20 billion in electric and autonomous vehicles through 2025. That number has now changed to $27 billion. Not too long ago, the automaker had also said that it would be launching 20 new EVs by 2023, most of which would only be available for the China market, where there is a higher demand for EVs. However, GM recently announced a change of plans: It will release 30 EVs by 2025, and North Americans will have access to more than two-thirds of them. The GMC, Buick, Chevrolet, and Cadillac brands will all offer EVs.
For GM, these plans stem from an overarching goal of becoming carbon-neutral by 2040. To accomplish this goal, the manufacturer will seek to cease production of all gasoline- and diesel-powered vehicles by 2035. GM also hopes to power all of its U.S. facilities with 100% renewable energy by 2030, along with its international facilities by 2035.
Upcoming Buick/GMC EVs
While there are many GM electric vehicles on the horizon, let’s take a quick look at some of the upcoming EVs from the GMC and Buick brands:
GMC
For decades, the Hummer models were known as being mean, gas-guzzling machines. After being discontinued in 2010, GM is resurrecting Hummer as a GMC sub-brand for the 2022 model year. We’ll see two forms of the all-new Hummer: a pickup truck (SUT) in 2022 and an SUV in 2023. Both models will be all-electric. And both models will be meaner than ever.
Here’s what we know so far about the Hummer EV SUT:
- It will offer up to 1,000 horsepower.
- The powertrain will include up to three electric motors.
- The truck will go about 350 miles on a charge.
- It will get you to 60 mph in just three seconds.
It appears that the Hummer EV SUT will be a dream for off-road enthusiasts. It will showcase the “Crab Walk” mode, a four-wheel-drive feature that allows you to drive diagonally. Drivers will also have the option of an adjustable air suspension and removable roof panels. The 2022 GMC Hummer EV SUT is set for release in late 2021.
Buick
According to public knowledge, there are at least two Buick electric vehicles in the works (though several other concepts are circulating). The Buick brand is making significant strides in China, where demand for EVs is much higher due to stricter emission standards. As of now, it’s unclear whether Buick will release EVs in North America within the next couple of years or whether the EVs will debut in the China market and make their way to the States shortly after that.
We do know that GM has unveiled the development of two electric SUVs. According to the automaker, one model will provide “more conventional crossover proportions.” Expect this SUV to be geared toward families with an emphasis on interior space and cargo. The other Buick all-electric SUV is being developed with “a greater emphasis on form and athletic fashion.” Along with more expressive proportions, this SUV is likely to cater more to single people and couples.
Conclusion
The future is electric. And no auto manufacturer is capitalizing on this prediction more than GM. By confidently setting ambitious goals for an all-electric lineup and carbon-neutral facilities, and by already taking actionable steps toward these goals, GM firmly establishes its place in the industry as a visionary automaker.
Only time will tell how the details of this master plan pan out. But it’s safe to say that the future is bright.
Want to Kick Your GMC Sierra Up a Notch? Try These Upgrades and Accessories

Whether you’ve just purchased a 2021 GMC Sierra or have been driving an older model for years, you likely know what your truck is capable of. You understand that a GMC not only looks the part but that it packs a lot of power too. In fact, the Sierra consistently ranks among the best pickups for towing and hauling.
However, that’s not to say that you can’t make a few upgrades here and there that can give you a boost in performance. There are many available upgrades that can take your Sierra to the next level when it comes to horsepower, torque, and fuel efficiency. And there are also tons of accessories that can help you increase comfort and keep your truck in pristine condition for years to come. Below, we’ve provided some ideas for how you can upgrade your already-stellar GMC Sierra.
PERFORMANCE UPGRADES
From replacing your high-flow air intake filters to beefing up your throttle body, here are some ideas for how you can maximize the power and efficiency of your Sierra:
Air Intake
A high-flow air intake system is essential if you want top-notch performance from your pickup. Simply put, such a system boosts the amount of clean air going to your motor. The result is better horsepower, torque, throttle response, and fuel efficiency. Brands like K&N, Airaid, and Spectre produce air intake systems that provide higher air velocity, smoother airflow, and cotton-gauze filter mediums that are washable and reusable.
Exhaust
When many people think about performance upgrades on a pickup truck, the exhaust system is the first thing to come to mind. Though the GMC Sierra has a well-established reputation for being a backcountry beast, you can up the power even more—and improve the sound of your truck in the process—by investing in a cat-back exhaust kit. High-functioning systems by Borla, Magnaflow, and Flowmaster come ready with all the components you need (e.g., mufflers, tubes, tips, etc.). And you can choose between single-, dual-, rear-, and side-exit configurations.
Another way to improve the power and sound of your Sierra is to upgrade the gas headers or diesel downpipes. Kooks, BBK, and Banks are a few brands worth considering for your header/downpipe replacements, as their products are mandrel-bent for an easy fit. GMC also offers exhaust upgrades for the Sierra, including a short wheelbase cat-back single/double exhaust system and a dual-wall angle-cut exhaust tip.
Throttle Parts
The throttle in your truck regulates the air and fuel that enters the engine, which plays a major role in the engine’s power. While your GMC Sierra is not short on power, you can pile on even more by upgrading to a larger throttle body. Components by BBK and Jet, for example, will fit seamlessly into your Sierra and enhance the air velocity of your engine. Plus, they are made of long-lasting, CNC-machined aluminum. You can expect a better throttle response to go with significant gains in horsepower and torque.
Adding a throttle body spacer can also improve your truck’s performance. Consider investing in a spacer from Jet, EconoAid, or Airaid to boost turbulence and enhance the air and fuel mixture in your combustion chamber. Along with creating a bigger one-two punch, a throttle body spacer can minimize whistling and engine noise while improving mileage.
Tuner
You may love pickup trucks. But that doesn’t mean you fit the stereotype of the rugged truck enthusiast who couldn’t care less about technology. By investing in an aftermarket tuner, you can bring your older GMC Sierra up to date (or get the most out of your newer Sierra). All-in-one tuners by Hypertech, Bully Dog, and DiabloSport make it easy to boost horsepower and torque; all you have to do is press a button or touch a screen!
Tuners can control many different functions by connecting to and modifying your truck’s computer, including the tire size, rev limit, and speed limiter. Most products will come with a connector, USB cables, software installation instructions, and anything else you need for easy installation. And you can keep the software up to speed with free online updates.
SEAT COVERS
Boosting performance isn’t the only way you can upgrade your GMC Sierra. There are plenty of accessories on the market that can customize your pickup to stand out from the crowd. Seat covers are one such type of accessory, and they not only can change the aesthetics of your cabin, but they can also help protect those nice, beautiful seats.
Carhartt PrecisionFit
If you’re a fan of Carhartt, look into the brand’s PrecisionFit custom seat covers. Coming in either Carhartt Brown or Carhartt Gravel colors, these seat covers will fit snugly to your Sierra’s front and rear seats. The covers feature classic Carhartt logos and styling, including the durable duck-weave fabric. They’re water-resistant and include foam in the seatbacks for added comfort.
Along with the seat bottoms and backs, the Carhartt PrecisionFit covers will cover the headrest, armrests, and middle console. Sure, they look as rugged and tough as you would expect from a Carhartt product, but their ability to protect your interior (and resale value) is where these seat covers shine. Whether you’re taking your pickup to the job site, going on outdoor adventures, or toting around children or pets, the Carhartt PrecisionFit covers will protect your seats from all kinds of water, mud, oil, grease, food, and more. And they’re really easy to clean!
Coverking Neosupreme
If you prefer more of a sporty seat cover for your Sierra, then the Coverking Neosupreme custom-tailored seat covers may be your best bet. Coverking goes through a lengthy and stringent process to design and engineer covers that fit each make and model perfectly. Through 3D imaging and testing, each set of covers are made to fit snugly while also being easy to install.
These seat covers feature an alternative material to neoprene that is lighter and more affordable. You can expect superb protection from all everyday substances, extra comfort from foam cushions, high-quality hardware, and nifty pockets. The Coverking Neosupreme covers are also more breathable and flexible than many of the competitors, and they’re available in eight vibrant colors. If you lead an active life, these seat covers are perfect for your GMC Sierra.
FLOOR LINERS/MATS
Another way to add protection to the interior of your Sierra is to put in custom floor liners or mats. Two top brands to consider are WeatherTech and Husky Liners.
WeatherTech DigitalFit Floor Liners
It’s difficult to argue with the popularity of the WeatherTech DigitalFit floor liners. Through innovative design and the use of the highest quality materials, these floor liners offer a precise fit for your pickup’s dimensions and the ultimate protection from water, mud, and other elements. WeatherTech’s High-Density Tri-Extruded (HDTE) semi-flexible material is as tough as it comes, and the high-friction outer surfaces of the liners provide excellent traction for your feet (and the liners won’t slip on the carpet). The liners also feature a multi-level design that pushes water into a reservoir trap, which helps to keep your feet dry. When the reservoir fills up, all you have to do is pour it over the door sill.
Every year, WeatherTech takes precise laser measurements of each make and model. Then, the floor liners are designed for a flawless fit, resulting in top-notch looks, coverage, and protection of your pickup’s floorboards—no matter how extreme the conditions.
Husky Liners WeatherBeater Floor Liners
A slightly more affordable option is the Husky Liners WeatherBeater floor liners. But don’t let the cheaper price fool you; Husky Liners makes some world-class products.
The WeatherBeater is the brand’s most innovative floor liner, and the craftsmanship is second to none. One thing that sets this product apart from others is the sidewalls, which are taller than the sidewalls on your typical floor liner. There are also grooves strategically placed to trap and contain liquids, grime, and other substances.
The thermo-plastic material of the Husky Liners WeatherBeater floor liners is strong enough to protect your truck’s floors from water, spilled drinks, mud, gasoline, battery acid, and much more. And they’re custom-molded to fit the contours of your exact vehicle, which means they will fit seamlessly into your GMC Sierra!
WeatherTech Floor Mats
So, floor liners are not the only way to keep your truck’s floors ready for the showroom. If you want to go with a more budget-friendly alternative, try the WeatherTech floor mats. The thick rubber of these mats will help protect your floors through all seasons. They have a ridged underside (not found on most other mats) that keeps the mats secure on the floorboards, and a soft upper tread that provides just the right amount of grip and comfort. There’s also a tall outer ridge that prevents liquids and debris from leaking onto the surrounding carpets.
WeatherTech floor mats are semi-custom designed. This means you may need to trim your mats with a knife or scissors to fit them tightly to your floors—then again, you may not. Like their floor liner counterparts, these floor mats are as easy as it gets to clean.
TRUCK BED ACCESSORIES
Moving to the exterior of your GMC Sierra, you need to keep that truck bed clean and shiny! That’s where truck bed accessories come in.
TonnoPro Tri-Fold Soft Tonneau Cover
There are quite a few tonneau covers on the market, but the TonnoPro Tri-Fold perhaps gives you the most bang for your buck. It’s economical, versatile, and durable. The tri-fold design makes it fast and easy to access the truck bed. The epoxy-coated aluminum frame is lightweight yet tough. You can have the TonnoPro TriFold out of the box and installed in no time, and the top-notch compression seal will protect your cargo from whatever elements may come. Simply put, it’s a great buy for any pickup truck.
BakFlip G2 Tonneau Cover
The BakFlip G2 is one of the most innovative tonneau covers on the market. While it’s quite a bit more expensive than some other covers, you get what you pay for. It has a low-profile design that will fit seamlessly onto your GMC Sierra, and it allows you to access your entire truck bed simply by flipping the cover against the rear cab. It’s lightweight and easy to install and remove.
The BakFlip G2 also provides superior protection from the elements via an EPDM rubber seal. And unlike many competitors, this tonneau cover is treated to look new for years to come; fading, corrosion, cracking, warping, and other consequences of UV rays won’t be a problem.
GMC Truck Bed Upgrades
It’s also worth mentioning that GMC offers several truck bed upgrades that can go a long way in keeping your Sierra in top condition. For example, you can opt for a rubberized mat that is nylon-reinforced, ribbed, and skid-resistant. You can also get a full truck bed liner in rubber or carpet; the carpet liner is even resistant to water and stains! Other upgrades include a cargo net, a tailgate step light, a side-mounted bed storage box, and extra tie-down rings.
Conclusion
If you have a GMC Sierra, you have one of the nicest pickup trucks in the world. Fortunately, there are many upgrades and accessories available to take your truck’s performance to an even higher level, as well as keep it in pristine condition for years to come. Along with looking into some of the products mentioned above, keep researching how you can take care of your beloved pickup and make the most of its capabilities.
Conquering the Buick Stigma: The Redefinition of One of America’s Oldest Automobile Brands

Not that long ago, “Buick” seemed synonymous with “old people’s car.” If you heard the word spoken in conversation, you might have thought of your grandparents driving a huge sedan to the Bingo center. Perhaps you would have pictured uber-cushioned seats that resembled more of a sofa than they did automobile seats.
In all fairness, the stigma was earned. For decades, Buick automobiles were among the most popular for Americans 65 and older. While this led to consistent sales, the stigma significantly harmed Buick’s potential for reaching other demographics and expanding their offerings.
Now, we live in a new age. And GM has transformed the Buick brand in ways perhaps nobody could have predicted. By taking steps like redesigning vehicles, replacing certain models with new ones, and implementing brilliant re-branding tactics, GM has made Buick a staunch competitor in the younger demographic. Let’s take a brief look at how this has unfolded:
Lineup and Design Overhauls
There’s no more practical way to redefine an automobile brand than by transforming your vehicles. And that’s precisely what Buick has done, and it’s done it without compromising the “refined luxury” it is known for. Perhaps the most impactful change for Buick has been to taper off the production of sedans and beef up their offerings of SUVs and crossovers.
For example, it discontinued the full-size Lucerne in 2011 and made significant updates to the LaCrosse in that same year. Many SUVs and crossovers have been added to the Buick lineup since then, and the LaCrosse was discontinued after the 2019 model year. As of 2021, the manufacturer only produces SUVs and crossovers. And it seems to be working. The Buick Encore, Encore GX, Envision, and Enclave are attracting younger families and professionals through exceptional looks, performance, reliability, and pricing.
It’s also worth mentioning that Buick ceased using its brand name on all its vehicles beginning in the 2019 model year, opting to rely solely on its tri-shield logo for brand recognition. This bold step was preceded by careful thought and research. In 2017, the manufacturer conducted surveys in which 73% of the respondents were able to identify the brand through the logo alone. Omitting the “Buick” badge has also helped to create consistency among the manufacturer’s international offerings.
Finding the Right Spot
In the 2010s, Buick began to recognize the rising trend of SUVs over sedans. There was a shift happening, and the manufacturer wasn’t going to miss out. Thus, it started developing hot new SUVs and crossovers to meet market demand and positioned itself as the best new thing. Buick also began to fill the gap between luxury and mainstream, which no other manufacturer had been able to fill with any kind of notable success.
Much of the success of Buick’s transformation can be attributed to marketing tactics. By now, you’ve probably heard the “That’s a Buick?!” catchphrase many times. It’s hard to imagine a more perfect tag line for an automobile manufacturer who is trying to conquer the “old people’s car” stigma. Perhaps the most impactful commercial put out by Buick was called “Mistaken Identity.” Airing in 2019, this commercial showed a group of young people mistaking one Buick vehicle for another and featured the song “It’s Alright” by indie-pop duo Matt & Kim. Another successful commercial ran in a Super Bowl slot in 2017; it too was aimed at the younger demographic and featured NFL MVP Cam Newton and supermodel Miranda Kerr.
Current and Future Outlook
In recent years, it seems that GM has succeeded in redefining the Buick brand. More and more young professionals are switching to Buick SUVs and crossovers. What’s more, almost half of all new Buick converts express brand loyalty by trading in their used Buicks for newer models, and dealers have reported a rising trend of people trading in Infiniti, Lexus, and other luxury models for Buick’s latest models.
The future looks bright for Buick. The manufacturer continues to produce safe, reliable, comfortable, and attractive models that pack all the performance and technology you could ask for in a vehicle. If Buick stays on top of its game (and we have no reason to doubt it will), then its “attainable luxury” will keep attracting buyers both young and old.
Conclusion
Buicks have always been known for their refined luxury. That quality remains in every Buick model produced today. However, times have drastically changed, and one of America’s oldest and most respected automobile brands has risen to the challenge. Forget everything you used to think about Buick vehicles. Older adults may still choose to buy Buicks, but so are younger ones. The stigma is a thing of the past, and the redefined Buick is the future.
If you would like to see and experience more of what the Buick SUVs and crossovers have to offer, give Liberty Buick GMC a call. We would love to schedule a test drive on any or all of our new Encore, Encore GX, Envision, and Enclave models!
