Tiny Home Living & Travel In Your Truck

Aug 20, 2023
By Jon Dalton George

Across the country, housing prices have soared, and the outlook for an affordable market is still far off in the future. Much of this is due to the lack of housing being built, which slowed down drastically post-2008 and has yet to recover.

“Housing supply remains at near historic lows—especially entry-level supply-–consequently propping up demand and sustaining higher home prices.” – Forbes Advisor.

So, if you’re in the market for a home, you’ve likely felt this pressure. Because of that, more folks than ever are moving towards tiny home living and taking their life on the road. RV and tiny home living has exploded over the past few years because of this tough housing market and the benefits they offer.

Though you can’t hit the road with just any vehicle, you’ll need a capable, dependable, and powerful vehicle that can move you and your new home across the country and many landscapes. But GMC has the answer to just that. Liberty Buick GMC offers many trucks that can out-compete nearly any vehicle on the market. Leaving you with one less thing to worry about as you hit the road.

Tiny Home Living & Travel In Your Truck!

The Tiny Home Boom

According to a survey by HomeAdvisor, a large percentage of Americans (86%) say they would live in a tiny home. That’s a surprising statistic, meaning more Americans than ever are looking for advice on how to begin their mobile journey.

Affordability is one of the main reasons for the move to tiny home living, echoing the dire housing market we outlined earlier, but it isn’t the only benefit of tiny home living. Those looking to downsize into tiny living can anticipate a number of positives —

No Mortgage – Being locked into a mortgage for decades can be daunting, leaving many families with no light at the end of the tunnel. Investing in a tiny home can break a cycle of mortgage debt and leave you with some extra monthly cash to splurge on things you were missing out on!

Reduce Carbon Footprint – For those who are environmentally conscious, downsizing your home is one of the best ways to reduce your carbon footprint. Larger homes require more energy, construction materials, etc. resulting in overall more impact on carbon output.

Easier To Furnish – Furnishing a new home can be one of the biggest headaches of a new move. Finding the perfect piece for every room is difficult and leaves people searching and tweaking their decor for years after settling in. A tiny home leaves less work for that decorating and lets you get your new home in order in record time.

Flexibility – Being able to relocate is arguably one of the biggest perks of tiny home living. Road trips are just the start of the advantages of having a home that’s easily moved. Don’t like your neighbors? In need of new scenery? Looking to move closer to family? Whatever the case, you’ve got home ready to move, leaving you with one less worry!

Affordable Utilities – Tied to the reduction in your carbon footprint, less house means less you don’t need to pay as much in utilities to get everything you need. This translates to more money saved, letting you spend on what else matters!

Though questions related to zoning laws, costs, and limitations of one’s ability to haul their home leave many asking for more information.

Where To Begin?

Joining this growing trend can be daunting, leaving many families with one question — “Where do we start?”

Most tiny homes are already on wheels as a way to get around some standards related to minimum housing size regulations. This is a bonus because it allows you to travel on a whim. It’s essential you have a vehicle capable of moving your tiny home before you make the leap. But knowing what vehicle will get it down can prove to be a challenge.

Though tiny homes are just that, tiny! So you won’t necessarily need the most powerful truck on the market to haul your new home. Light to medium-duty vehicles will handle much of your potential load.

GMC’s 2023 Canyon is a perfect fit when it comes to mid-size trucks. The Canyon is shorter and narrower than the Sierra, its larger GMC truck counterpart, by about 3.5 inches and nearly six inches, respectively. Even with the size discrepancy, the truck is more than capable of hauling a tiny home.

GMC Global Vice President Duncan Aldred puts it best, “GMC is flexing the might of our off-road muscle. (The) Canyon benefits from key learnings gained from our AT4 strategy to bring customers the most advanced off-road midsize truck.”

The Canyon will be the first mid-size truck that combines a handful of revolutionary features.

  • Underbody cameras
  • Digital driver information center
  • Available Google built-in features
  • Available head-up display
  • Wireless Appleplay and Android Auto compatibility

And Liberty Buick GMC has experience in connecting customers with the excellent GMC Canyon. Look no further than their countless positive reviews —

GMC Canyon tiny House Truck

Moving away from the trend-setting mid-size Canyon is GMC’s Sierra. GMC’s 2023 Sierra is a heavy-duty truck that can do everything, including quickly hauling your tiny home. The 2023 Sierra offers unparalleled off-roading capabilities and can haul nearly anything you can conceptualize, with the capability of moving over 13,000 pounds —  that’s a weight that can many things, like your future tiny home!

GMC Sierra Tiny House

Trucks aren’t the only vehicle that is capable of hauling tiny homes. Several of GMC’s SUVs have hauling capability that would be able to handle the load of your new home. While we would recommend a truck because of the storage capacity, here are some solid SUVs fit for a road trip. The Yukon and Yukon XL, Acadia, and Terrain all offer spacious SUVs equipped for off-roading, going long distances, and hauling thousands of pounds. So, if SUVs are more your style, look at the 2023 models through Liberty Buick’s digital showroom.

Seizing on Freedom

Once you hit the road in your new GMC, hauling your tiny home in tow, you’ll have a newfound sense of freedom and some distance from your past rent or mortgage costs! But freedom is one thing; knowing what to do with it is another.

Thankfully, the growing trend in those who’ve chosen the independent lifestyle on the road has illuminated a handy roadmap to enjoying your newfound freedom.  Here are some of the best sites to visit once you’re on the road —

Gunnison National Forest, Colorado. – 1,672,136 acres spanning huge swaths of Colorado gives anyone with a sense of adventure limitless places to explore and set up camp. It borders several other national forests, positioning it as the perfect destination to get the most out of a long west journey.

Big Bend National Park, Texas –  Big Bend National Park is located in West Texas along the border of Mexico. The park encompasses an area of 801,163 acres and includes a large piece of the Rio Grande, the natural boundary between Mexico and the United States. Folks who travel there can expect to see an impressive amount of biodiversity and immerse themselves in the impressive deserts of the Americas.

Acadia National Park, Maine – Being in North Carolina, we know — the Western USA doesn’t hold all the spots with adventure and fun. Acadia National Park has quickly become a must-visit destination for those living on wheels—47,000 acres of land, including islands off the coast of Maine. Folks looking to camp can easily find public land to park their new home and take all the time needed to explore this east coast gem.

Why a GMC Truck?

When picking a vehicle to haul your new lifestyle, you must be sure you’re picking the perfect partner. Car and Driver has consistently honored GMC as a standout brand when it comes to towing. Both the Canyon and the Sierra are recognized as top-of-the-line competitors in the towing game. The Canyon is capable of hauling 7,700 pounds and the Sierra 13,200, one of the many reasons the trucks are highlighted.

If you’re settled on the brand, knowing where to buy your next GMC truck is the important next step. Make the first destination on your road trip to Matthews, North Carolina, so you can visit Liberty Buick GMC and be equipped for a life of travel and adventure. Why Choose the AT4X?

You might be wondering, “What sets the AT4X apart from the rest?” Well, the AT4X is not just powerful; it’s specifically engineered to tackle off-road obstacles. Its suspension travel measures 9.8 inches at the front and 10.6 inches at the rear. That’s some serious flex for overcoming those intense backcountry hurdles!

2024 GMC Sierra AT4X vs. Standard AT4

There’s a lot of buzz going on around the upcoming Sierra HD models, especially the all-new AT4X. But you may wonder what the difference is between the AT4X and standard AT4. Here’s a quick breakdown of the two options:

Power Under the Hood

When it comes to raw power, both models are impressive. The standard AT4 comes with a 6.6L V8 gas engine that’s nothing to scoff at. But the AT4X takes it up a notch with the same 6.6-liter gas V8 but delivers 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. So if you’re all about power, the AT4X might be your go-to.

Built for Adventure

For those who love off-roading, the AT4X has a steeper approach angle (31.6 versus 29.8 degrees) compared to the standard AT4. What does this mean for you? It means your AT4X is better equipped to tackle steep inclines without damaging the front of your truck. That’s one less thing to worry about as you navigate the road less taken!

Price Considerations

While both trucks are sturdy and powerful, they do come with different price tags. If you’re budget-conscious, keep in mind that the AT4X starts at $83,695, while the standard AT4 starts at $70,995. Of course, your final price will depend on the specific configuration and upgrades you choose.

Additional Features

The AT4X also comes with a 1.5-inch suspension lift, making it ready to face the adversities of the trail. Whether it’s a rocky terrain or a muddy path, the AT4X is up to the challenge.

Both the standard AT4 and AT4X are excellent choices. However, if you’re looking for more power, better off-road capabilities, and don’t mind spending a bit extra, the AT4X could be the perfect fit. On the other hand, the standard AT4 should serve you well if you want a solid, reliable truck without some of the extra bells and whistles.

Remember that the best truck for you depends on your needs and lifestyle. Take your time, do your research, and choose the one that feels right for you!

The Importance of Having a Heavy-Duty Pickup Truck

A good pickup truck is more than just a car — it’s a reliable tool you can use for work or for fun. At Liberty Buick GMC, we understand just how important it is to have a pickup truck that you can trust. That’s why we only sell trucks that shine in dependability.

Safety

First and foremost, having a dependable pickup truck means that your safety is prioritized. A heavy-duty pickup truck is designed to withstand tough conditions on and off the road, so you can rest assured you’re secure while driving. Whether you’re towing a heavy load or driving through harsh terrain, you’ll want a vehicle that can handle the job without putting you at risk.

Durability

A heavy-duty pickup truck is built to last, and investing in one can save you money in the long run. Dependable pickup trucks can perform for many years through extreme weather, rough terrains, and carrying heavy loads. They’re less likely to break down or require repairs. And, in case your truck does need repairs, it’s easier to find quality parts and services for a popular model like the GMC Sierra.

Versatility

Having a dependable pickup truck means that you can enjoy superior versatility for both work and play. For example, you can use your truck for transporting goods, towing heavy loads, or even as a vacation vehicle for an off-road adventure. A reliable truck can handle multiple uses and terrains, so it’s an excellent investment for anyone who wants a vehicle that does than one thing.

Resale Value

Investing in a heavy-duty pickup truck is a wise move if you ever plan on reselling your truck. Dependable vehicles are valued more and tend to have a better resale price than their cheaper counterparts. Trucks that provide years of dependable service retain their value, making them a better long-term investment.

Confidence

Lastly, having a dependable truck gives you added confidence. You don’t have to worry about breaking down on your journey, meaning you can focus on the road ahead instead of worrying about your truck’s performance. A reliable pickup can help you tackle any project with ease and provides an extra sense of security so you can focus on other things when on the road.

Wrapping Up

The upcoming 2024 GMC Sierra HD 2500 and 3500 models represent a new benchmark in heavy-duty trucks. The introduction of the all-new Sierra HD AT4X version, with its enhanced off-road capability and other features, further expands the lineup’s appeal. These trucks aren’t just workhorses; they offer advanced tech, comfort, and style that make them suitable for everyday use.

Whether you’re towing large loads, venturing off the beaten path, or simply driving around town, GMC heavy-duty trucks offer unquestionable dependability to enhance your experience. The 2024 Sierra HD models continue the tradition of blending strength and sophistication, reaffirming that owning a reliable, heavy-duty truck can be both a practical decision and a personal indulgence!

We would make a significant wager that more people dislike shopping for car insurance than like it. The very premise of insurance is weighing “what if” scenarios versus probability statistics like some kind of mind-boggling word problem in an upper-level math class you never wanted to take in the first place. How do you make sure you’re protected but not overpay for what you don’t need? How do different state laws impact your coverage? What if your needs change?

We get it.

Whether you’re buying car insurance for the first time, are considering making changes to your policy after buying a new car, or just want to shop around to see what deals are available, we at Liberty Buick GMC have put together a few tips we hope will help you.

What is auto insurance?

Auto insurance is a contract between you and an insurance company to protect you against financial loss in the event of an accident or theft. You pay a premium, and in exchange, the insurance company agrees to pay your losses as outlined in your policy.

Auto insurance provides coverage for:

  • Property– such as damage to or theft of your car
  • Liability– your legal responsibility to others for bodily injury or property damage
  • Medical– the cost of treating injuries, rehabilitation, and sometimes lost wages and funeral expenses

Policies are generally issued for six-month or one-year timeframes and are renewable.

What is a premium?

The premium is the amount you pay for an auto insurance policy. Insurance premiums for different types of insurance are determined using a diverse set of statistics and factors, such as age, health, credit rating, field of work, driving history, and geographic location. Your driving record will have the largest impact on your insurance premium. Premiums are paid in regular installments, such as monthly, quarterly, or semi-annually. Car insurance premiums may have discounts if paid in certain ways, such as in a lump sum or via automatic bank draft. Always ask insurance carriers whether they offer any such discounts.

Who is covered under an auto insurance policy?

An auto insurance policy follows a car — not a driver. For example, if someone borrows your car (whether for a few hours or a few years), that person is using your insurance policy. Laws do vary a bit from state to state. For example, a few states (Kansas, Michigan, New York, Virginia, and Wisconsin) do not allow you to exclude a driver from your policy. So in those states, if your spouse has a string of DUIs, he or she will be factored into your premium costs. However, maybe you have a young driver in the household who only is allowed to drive one particular car — let’s pretend that car isn’t the new GMC Sierra 1500 you’ve got parked in the garage. That young driver could have his or her own policy and not be an insured driver on the adult/family policy thus potentially saving money. If you habitually lend your car to someone, whether that person is a relative or friend, consider adding that person as a covered driver on your policy. And make a point to remember that if that person gets into an accident or has a DUI, it will be reflected in your insurance policy. Be sure to inquire about these kinds of situations with every insurance carrier providing you with a quote.

What is the law in North Carolina?

North Carolina Motor Vehicle Law requires that Automobile Liability coverage be continuously maintained. The minimum coverage requirements are $30,000 Bodily Injury for each person, $60,000 total Bodily Injury for all persons in an accident, and $25,000 for Property Damage. Motor Vehicle Law also requires Uninsured/ Underinsured Motorists coverage. Auto insurance policies with the minimum Bodily Injury and Property Damage limits are required to include Uninsured Motorists coverage. Policies with limits greater than the minimum must provide combined Uninsured/Underinsured Motorists coverage.

What is Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist coverage?

Uninsured Motorists (UM) Coverage will provide protection when an uninsured driver, who is at-fault, injures you or another covered individual. It also provides property damage coverage.

Underinsured Motorists (UIM) Coverage will provide protection when an underinsured driver, who is at fault, causes injury to a covered individual. An underinsured driver is one whose limits of liability are less than your UIM limits, and not enough to cover the losses of the people the underinsured driver injures in an at-fault accident.

What is GAP Insurance?

Guaranteed Auto Protection insurance is the difference between the actual cash value of a vehicle and the balance still owed on the financing. For example, let’s say you financed a car for $25,000. Over time you paid off $2,000 of the loan. Then you had an accident. It may be the case that while you still owe $23,000 on your car, its actual cash value is only $19,000 — a $4,000 gap. If you have gap insurance, it can help you cover the $4,000 gap between what you owe on your loan and what your car is worth, after your deductible.

GAP insurance only covers damage to your vehicle, not other property or bodily injuries resulting from an accident. A GAP policy will not cover your deductible. It is only used in the event of a total loss from a covered accident, not for mechanical repairs. GAP coverage is mainly used on new and used small vehicles and heavy trucks that are being leased or on which payments are being made. Several insurers sell GAP insurance including Allstate, State Farm, Progressive, and AAA, although it may be called loan/lease gap coverage, or new car replacement coverage.

What is the best way to shop for car insurance?

Most states have a buyer’s guide for auto insurance to get you started. Consider what your needs will most likely be — are you a commuter in work traffic or a Sunday driver? Are you towing farm equipment or carting the family to soccer practice?

Consider using the following resources to narrow down which companies you’ll want to ask for a quote:

Also consider whether you have access to any discounts through special memberships. Various professional, civic, and recreational organizations offer discounts, such as American Business Women’s Association, Mary Kay, National Federation of Federal Employees, AARP, and BJ’s Wholesale Club. (Remember that there are discounts to be had for multi-car coverage, bundling policies such as homeowners or renters, and various programs such as driver monitoring.)

You may also wish to look for a local agent to be your primary point of contact. Independent agents can offer policies from several insurance companies while providing you with personal service. This way no matter if you stick with one insurance carrier for years or make a change whenever your personal situation changes, you have greater continuity in terms of an agent who knows you and your needs.

What’s the best way to compare car insurance policies?

Comparing the fine print details of policies can get overwhelming fast. Remember that coverage is often sold with a per-person and total-per-loss-maximum amount. For example, 100/300/50 coverage means you have coverage of $100,000 bodily injury liability insurance per person, $300,000 total bodily injury liability insurance per accident, and $50,000 property damage liability per accident. In North Carolina the minimum is 30/60/25.

Decide what kind of deductible you want, i.e. $500 or $1,000. Decide whether you want things like towing and labor coverage, or if you don’t need it because you already belong to an organization like AAA. Be clear about what you need covered, whether it’s one car or two cars, or one car and a motorcycle and a golf cart and an RV (bundles bring discounts).

Once you can get quotes to be as “apples to apples” as possible, then you can determine which quotes are worth pursuing further. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and have your agent run numbers on a few different configurations, like changing the deductible, paying in a lump sum vs. monthly, or scraping optional add-ons like rental reimbursement coverage. It’s an agent’s job to work with you to find the best options!

How do I keep my insurance premiums from going up?

Drive safe. In North Carolina speeding 10 mph or less over a speed limit under 55 mph can result in a 30-percent rate increase. Speeding 10 mph or less over the speed limit at 55 mph or higher will increase rates by 45-percent. Passing a stopped school bus can result in an 80-percent increase. Aggressive driving may raise your rates by 195 percent, while a DUI or racing brings a whopping 340-percent rate increase.

Also know that certain cars cost more to insure than others. The Insurance Institute of Highway Safety, a nonprofit research organization funded by auto insurers, collects data on insurance claim frequency and insurance cost per vehicle. In a given year, insurance companies make claim payments of roughly $900 on average per vehicle. Some vehicles get into more accidents, and some have higher payouts for each accident. As it turns out, many of the cars that are most expensive to insure are large or midsize luxury vehicles, while the least expensive to insure are small to midsize SUVs.

Forbes ranked these models as the most expensive to insure in 2023:

GMC and Hurricane Season

May 11, 2023
By Andrae Bergeron

When thinking of strong tornado and hurricane seasons, your first thoughts may not gravitate to North Carolina. But preparation for these natural disasters can be the difference between safety and danger for you and your family here in the old North State. After all, according to ReadyNC.gov —

“All parts of North Carolina have been hit by tornadoes, floods, hurricanes, lightning strikes, snow and ice storms. These natural disasters can cause power outages, property damage, and disruption to food and water supplies.”

Not only is it important to prepare for these natural disasters, but you also need to see if your vehicle can handle them! Liberty Buick GMC has a few vehicles built to withstand even the most daunting weather patterns, so read on to learn about the safest and strongest models the dealership has provided the Matthews area for years!

Tornados In North Carolina

Before we get into vehicles, it’s important to understand these weather patterns.

As we touched on earlier, all parts of North Carolina have witnessed these weather events, as have a number of North Carolinian vehicles.

Tornados often happen suddenly, with little warning, leaving folks stuck in place when a tornado begins. The North Carolina State Climate Office reports that from 1950 to 2019, North Carolina experienced 1,387 tornadoes. Meaning that on average, we see 29 tornadoes a year. That’s more tornados than many may expect for North Carolina!

To understand the impact a tornado can have on your vehicle, it’s important to know the levels of strength associated with the weather event. Tornados are often classified by the strength of their winds, ranging from F0 to F5.

Once a tornado reaches F2, somewhere between 113 – 157 mph, it has the ability to pick up cars, spelling danger if you’re caught driving. While F2 is closer to the mild end of the scale for tornados, the ability to throw a vehicle through the air is a testament to its power and potential to impact you and your vehicle.

Hurricanes in North Carolina

North Carolina is no stranger to hurricanes — of 301 hurricanes that have made landfall in the U.S. since 1851, 58 of them have been in North Carolina. And for those who may believe a majority of those hurricanes were relegated to the cost, over the past 20 years, every part of North Carolina has been impacted by hurricanes. So planning for the weather event is a good way to keep you and your family safe.

Unlike tornados, hurricanes can typically be forecasted before they happen or make landfall in an area. The Atlantic hurricane season, which impacts North Carolina, begins June 1st and ends November 30th, so the season is about to start.

When a hurricane hits an area, vehicles risk flooding, damage from debris, displacement by strong winds, and much more. Take the recent hurricane Ian in Florida for example, where 350,000 cars were damaged by flooding alone. The potential for this weather event to ruin any vehicle is extremely high, especially if that vehicle isn’t prepared or the driver hasn’t taken the necessary steps to minimize risk.

What to Do When In Your Vehicle

If the facts and data above conveyed anything, it’s that these weather patterns are dangerous. Knowing what to do ahead of time can make the difference between life and death! Here’s what you need to do if you encounter either event while driving in your vehicle.

Tornados – If you’re driving your vehicle and see a tornado here are a few ways you can mitigate chances of danger. Though, it’s generally best to seek underground and sturdy shelter, as being on the road in the open severely limits your ability to stay covered.

  • Don’t try to outrun the tornado. Instead, try and move your vehicle out of the path of the upcoming weather pattern. Then, if you can’t find any shelter, park your vehicle in a low-lying area, remain buckled, get low into your vehicle, and cover your head and neck with your hands. Though if you can get out of the roadway entirely, specifically under the road grade, it may be best to seek shelter there.

Hurricanes – Most of the time, we know when a hurricane is expected to occur, so it’s easy to avoid being in your vehicle when the weather pattern makes landfall. Though if the data from Hurricane Ian showed you anything, the likelihood of a hurricane ruining your vehicle is high. Still, there are steps you can take with your vehicle to keep it safe, while you and your family seek shelter.

If a hurricane is severe enough, there’s no perfect place to leave your vehicle. The one rule that remains consistent — the higher elevation the better. Once elevated you can seek things like barns or garages that provide shelter as well as height above an oncoming flood path. Parking your vehicle next to a building but away from things likely to fall, like powerlines and trees, helps break the strong winds but keeps debris from falling on your ride. Just be sure to invest in a sturdy tarp if the vehicle is left outside!

For those in more urban areas, structures like parking garages, at higher levels, away from openings, are sturdy and elevated enough to increase the chances your vehicle makes it through landfall.

Once the hurricane itself subsides, your area is sure to be left with some significant flooding, alongside damage and blockages of major roads. This can make travel in some vehicles nearly impossible. Though Liberty Buick GMC offers some vehicles designed for rugged travel that can handle some of those conditions.

GMC Sierra

When it comes to durability, the Sierra is unrivaled” – Liberty Buick Sales Rep.

The Sierra is one such vehicle that comes to mind. Every trim of the Sierra is capable of unreal offroading capability, backed by 310 hp and 430 pounds of torque. The Sierra isn’t the only vehicle Liberty Buick GMC offers that’s capable of handling tough conditions, a whole list of SUVs offer a similar level of versatility. How To Prepare

You may know what to do with your vehicle if you’re caught in one of these storms, though knowing what to bring and prepare with is just as important! Having just a few items in your vehicle can greatly improve your safety and give you peace of mind.

First, make sure your car is properly taken care of. Oil changes, good tires, effective wipers, and more, will all make things much safer for you and your vehicle. And the team at Liberty Buick GMC is well-prepared to bring your vehicle to its top shape! GMC’s service department is unrivaled and while Liberty has a track record of leaving customers happy after a sale, they also have a record of professional service. Do You Need Two or Three Rows?

Choosing a suitable family car is crucial when you’re a parent. But why settle for “suitable” if you can find the “perfect” vehicle? The problem is there are so many options available on the market. One way to quickly narrow your options is to determine whether you need a five-passenger or seven-passenger SUV.

Both the Terrain and Acadia are exceptional family vehicles. The two-row Terrain seats five adults, while the Acadia seats six or seven in its three rows, depending on the variant you choose. Let’s discuss the differences and factors you need to consider before making a decision.

Number of Family Members

The size of your family is one of the most important factors to consider when choosing between a five- or seven-passenger SUV. If you have a small family of four or five, a five-passenger SUV will give you adequate space. A seven-passenger SUV will be the more practical choice if you have more than five family members or plan to expand your family in the future.

Lifestyle and Activities

Do you love going on road trips or camping with your family often? If so, then a seven-passenger SUV with a spacious cargo area and a powerful engine will be more convenient. On the other hand, if you mainly use your car for daily commutes and errands, a five-passenger SUV will prove to be more than enough.

Budget

As with any life decision, money is another crucial factor when choosing which vehicle to buy. Seven-passenger SUVs are usually more expensive than their five-passenger counterparts due to the additional seats and space they provide.

If you have a smaller budget or don’t need extra passenger space, the Terrain may be the wiser choice. But if you have a bit of room in your budget and need to accommodate more passengers, going with the Acadia would be a good investment.

Fuel Efficiency

Seven-passenger SUVs tend to have larger engines and consume more fuel than five-passengers. If fuel efficiency is a concern for you, assume that a two-row SUV like the Terrain will be more economical on gasoline. Remember, however, that it really comes down to what your family needs. If you require more passenger space, this is an area where you may need to figure out the extra funds for fuel.

Safety Features

Safety is paramount when it comes to choosing a family car. Both the Acadia and Terrain are equipped with various safety features — from airbags and anti-lock brakes to rear-view cameras and automatic emergency braking. In some cases, larger vehicles (in this case, a three-row SUV) will offer a few more safety and driver-assist techonolgies. The key is to do your research to discover precisely which safety features each vehicle has.

Choosing the right SUV for your family can be tough, but carefully considering these factors will help you make an informed decision. Ultimately, it all comes down to your family’s specific needs and preferences, and you should pick a car that meets those needs!

Summary

The 2023 GMC Acadia and Terrain offer car buyers everything they would expect from a GMC vehicle: reliability, performance, safety, and style. But the new model year also provides some minor updates and a few optional features that could help you make a decision.

Hummer EV SUT

The Hummer EV SUT is the first of its kind. Safety Features

The 2023 GMC Hummer EV SUT comes standard with Safety Alert Seat. The feature vibrates upon detecting potential hazards around your vehicle, such as pedestrians crossing into traffic or objects in your blind spot, to keep you alert while driving.

Additionally, The Hummer has HD Surround Vision which uses cameras placed around the vehicle’s exterior to provide a 360-degree view of your surroundings on an easy-to-read display inside the cabin; this makes parking and maneuvering more effortless than ever before! Further, the automatic emergency braking functionality will apply brakes if it senses an imminent collision ahead, helping you avoid impact altogether.

Fuel Efficiency

The Hummer EV SUT is the world’s first zero-emissions pickup truck. It has an EPA-estimated range of almost 330 miles on a single charge and offers up to 1,000 horsepower, making it one of the most influential and fuel-efficient vehicles available. A Case for the Sierra

The 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 has something for everyone, from powerful engines to sophisticated interiors with modern amenities. This light-duty pickup truck is ready for anything life throws at it. It has all you need regarding performance, interior comfortability, technology advancements, and safety features that ensure a safe driving experience no matter where life takes you next.

Choosing a gas-powered pickup truck over an electric truck has several benefits. Gas-powered trucks are generally less expensive than their electric counterparts and easier to find and service. Gas-powered engines are more reliable and provide more power, making them ideal for hauling heavier loads or taking on challenging terrain. They also typically have a greater range than electric vehicles and can be filled up almost anywhere.

Ultimately, picking the right type of vehicle for your needs will depend on your specific situation and preferences. But if you’re looking for something powerful and reliable, a gas-powered pickup truck may be a perfect choice.

A Case for the Hummer EV

The 2023 GMC Hummer EV SUT is a powerful vehicle packed with features like its impressive powertrain, comfortable interior amenities, cutting-edge technology, and connectivity options. Not to mention tons of driver-assistive features to keep you safe on every journey.

Electric pickup trucks like the Hummer EV SUT are more environmentally friendly and produce zero emissions. They also require less maintenance, as they don’t have oil changes or tune-ups. Moreover, electric pickup trucks provide instant torque and acceleration that can’t be matched by a traditional engine, offering drivers an exhilarating experience.

Moreover, electric vehicles are becoming increasingly affordable, and charging infrastructure is expanding rapidly; in other words, electric trucks should become easier to own over time. Ultimately, the Hummer EV SUT offers a unique combination of performance, environmental benefits, and cost savings that make it an attractive proposition for drivers.

The Bottom Line

Choosing between the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 and the 2023 GMC Hummer EV SUT can be tough. If you’re looking for a more traditional-style truck, the Sierra 1500 is your best bet. It has plenty of power and capability, and you can customize it to meet your needs. On the other hand, the Hummer EV SUT provides an entirely different experience, allowing you to enjoy off-road adventures in style.

Each vehicle has unique benefits and drawbacks that you must weigh carefully when making this decision. Consider factors like driving style, features, and costs to make an informed choice. And remember to connect with Liberty Buick GMC to discover what’s on our lot — we’ll also set you up for a test drive!

The 2023 Yukon is among GMC‘s most luxurious and comfortable vehicles ever. The large SUV office space for passengers and cargo only to be rivaled by minivans, and you can get a model with a longer wheelbase (Yukon XL) for even more room.

You also have several great engine options with the Yukon, with most carrying a 5.3- or 6.2-liter V8. There’s also a 3.0-liter inline-six turbo-diesel available — unique for the full-size SUV class.

New 2023 Yukon at Liberty Buick GMC

The Yukon‘s towing capacity and acceleration are impressive regardless of your chosen engine. The base trim (SLE) provides more technology and convenience features than others in the segment, and the Denali versions contend with the Lincoln Navigator and Cadillac Escalade in terms of luxury.

GMC has upped the ante for the 2023 model year by adding the all-new Denali Ultimate trim. The most accommodating and luxurious GMC vehicle to date, the model gives drivers most — if not all — of the niceties they could hope for. Liberty Buick GMC explains everything you need to know about the 2023 GMC Yukon Denali Ultimate:

2023 GMC Yukon Denali Ultimate

Anyone who has kept up with the GMC Yukon in recent years knows that the auto manufacturer has pulled no punches regarding premium materials and comfort, convenience, and safety technologies. The 2022 Sierra Denali Ultimate was the first we saw of the new trim, and General Motors (GM) has now added it to the Yukon lineup.

The Yukon Denali Ultimate takes interior refinement, performance, and safety to new levels. A few of the many notable upgrades include:

  • Alpine Umber leather seats
  • Open-pore wood trim
  • 16-way power-adjustable front seats (with massage)
  • 18-speaker Bose audio system
  • Available turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder diesel engine

Among other characteristics, the Denali Ultimate is distinguished by its dark chrome trim on the grille and eye-catching 22-inch rims. You can also get GM’s Super Cruise hands-free highway driving feature.

From the Outside

Part of the charm of the Yukon lineup is that every trim is unmistakably luxurious and powerful. The bold grille, large wheels, and overall prominent stature of the SLE, SLT, AT4, Denali, and Denali Ultimate variants distinguish the Yukon from other large SUVs — even the Tahoe and Suburban (its Chevrolet siblings).

Nonetheless, a wealth of design elements sets the Denali Ultimate apart from the other trims. You’ll notice dark chrome on the grille, fenders, and other exterior panels. A monochromatic GMC badge replaces the bright red badge of other versions. And the dark chrome 22-inch wheels are unique to the Denali Ultimate. There are even interior design elements to match the exterior’s chromed-out theme.

These special exterior touches are unique to the Denali Ultimate, as you can’t get them on the standard Denali through packages or add-ons.

From the Inside

The Yukon Denali is known for an interior quality that rivals any of the world’s nicest large SUVs. The Denali Ultimate raises that already-high standard.

The cabin showcases full-grain leather upholstery and open-pore wood trim throughout. The seat upholstery and trim feature a topographical map of Mount Denali. Upon starting the vehicle, this map appears as an animation on the 10.2-inch infotainment touchscreen and 12-inch driver information center.

You’ll notice various metal accents with the Denali Ultimate nameplate among many other dark chrome touches. GM even weaved some of the Denali Ultimate’s technologies into the cabin’s aesthetics. A Bose sound system comes standard with two speakers in each of the front-seat headrests. Drivers will also love the power-sliding center console that moves back 10 inches with the touch of a button.

Under the Hood

The 2023 GMC Yukon Denali Ultimate comes with two powertrain options. It comes standard with a 6.2-liter V8 yielding 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. This engine can move the SUV quickly from a stop and enables it to pass others on the road with ease.

The other option is the turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder diesel engine. Drivers won’t be let down by the engine’s 277 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. All and all, the diesel option provides top-tier performance and better fuel economy.

A 10-speed automatic transmission is paired with either engine you choose. And you’ll be hard-pressed to find a smoother shift on the market.

Capabilities

In case you were wondering, the 2023 GMC Yukon Denali Ultimate is every bit as capable as its appearance suggests — if not more so. The standard 420-hp engine gives the model an 8,000-lb towing capacity, and you can tow up to 7,800 pounds with the efficient 277-hp turbo-diesel V6. In other words, you won’t have trouble managing a second vehicle, boat, or trailer with either engine.

The entire Yukon lineup is known for its smooth ride; the Denali Ultimate comes standard with Magnetic Ride Control and an air ride adapter suspension that provides an even smoother ride than other variants. Magnetic Ride Control is an advanced technology that automatically adjusts according to road conditions, and the standard air ride adaptive suspension cushions the ride via pressurized air.

Agile, You Said?

Agility may not be top of mind when purchasing a large SUV, and most car buyers expect bigger SUVs to handle more poorly than their smaller counterparts. The Yukon shatters this stereotype. The full-size SUV feels light on its feet, and it seems to have a bit less body lean than other vehicles in the segment.

Four-wheel drive comes standard on the Yukon Denali Ultimate, an automatic two-speed transfer case, and an electric limited slip differential. You can even select from several drive modes (e.g., dirt, gravel, slick, etc.). And even the most fervent 4×4 enthusiasts will surely be impressed by how this model’s 4WD system makes quick adjustments to maximize traction on slippery terrain.

Fuel Efficiency

Gas mileage for a 2023 GMC Yukon Denali Ultimate in its standard setup (6.2-liter V8 with four-wheel drive) aligns with other trims with this configuration, producing 14 miles per gallon in the city and 19 mpg on the highway (16 combined mpg). You can boost efficiency with the 3.0-liter diesel engine. The standard-wheelbase Yukon with the diesel engine gives you 20/26 mpg city/highway (22 combined), while the extended-length (XL) yields 21/27 mpg (23 combined).

The diesel version Yukon Denali sits atop the full-size SUV class for fuel economy. The Chevrolet Tahoe and Chevrolet Suburban are the only ones that can compete since they have the same available diesel engine and are mechanically similar.

Technology

You’ll find high-tech features in every corner of the Yukon Denali Ultimate. The intuitive and responsive GMC infotainment system is at the heart of it all.

You can use Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, built-in Google, and Apple CarPlay through a sleek 10.2-inch touchscreen to access phone calls, text messages, and music streaming. Or you can control media with your voice (e.g., Alexa, Google Assistant, or Siri).

A 12-inch digital driver information center and wireless device charging are standard in the Denali Ultimate. You can enjoy satellite radio, Bluetooth, and a Wi-Fi hotspot in addition to the 18-speaker Bose audio system.

Safety for the Win

Driver safety features continue to evolve, with cutting-edge technologies like Ford BlueCruise and Tesla Autopilot getting a lot of attention. GM’s Super Cruise fits right in the fold and is available in the 2023 Yukon Denali Ultimate. Super Cruise allows you to drive more than 200,000 miles hands-free and equips your SUV to change lanes and tow a trailer automatically.

Also standard in the Yukon Denali Ultimate is a high-definition surround-view camera system that provides 13 different views. This system shows you all the angles you need when parking with or without a trailer. And a 15-inch head-up display adds even more depth to the loaded safety tech suite.

Here are some other safety features to expect:

  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Lane departure warning
  • A rear camera mirror
  • Blind-spot monitoring
  • Automatic emergency braking

The Yukon Denali Ultimate also comes standard with GM’s Teen Driver. This feature lets you establish boundaries and get reports on secondary drivers, helping you keep your young drivers safe.

Seating for Seven

With three rows, the 2023 Yukon Denali Ultimate has second-row captain’s chairs and seats seven passengers. As with its exterior, the Denali Ultimate is distinguished from other Yukon versions because of its unique seating design and top-tier materials.

Alpine Umber full-grain leather adorns the seats in a rich brown tone. Exclusive Denali Ultimate badging and a topographical map of Mount Denali are stitched into the seats. And each of the front seats has two speakers built into its headrest. The front seats are something to behold, with ventilation, massage capabilities, and 16-way power adjustments.

When we say the Yukon Denali Ultimate seats seven, we mean it comfortably accommodates seven average-size adults. Most passengers can comfortably sit in any of the three rows and enjoy a cushioned-yet-supportive ride.

Cargo Dimensions

As with the other Yukons in the lineup, the Denali Ultimate offers top-of-the-class cargo dimensions. You can choose between the standard-wheelbase Yukon or Yukon XL. You’ll get 25.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row of seats from the standard version. With the third row folded down, it gives you 72.6 ft.³, and you can boost storage to 122.9 ft.³ by collapsing the second row.

If you need more cargo space, you can get at least 41.5 ft.³ in the Yukon XL. Collapsing the second row yields 93.8 ft.³ while folding all the rear seats gives you 144.7 ft.³ of space. The Tahoe and Suburban are the only full-size SUVs that match the Yukon’s cargo room.

Conclusion

The 2023 GMC Yukon Denali Ultimate is a vehicle that truly has it all. It delivers both power and fuel efficiency to go with uncompromising safety. The full-size SUV’s exterior styling and interior design represent luxury and class, and its segment-leading cargo room equips you to handle whatever life throws at you.

In short, this model is a remarkable addition to the GMC lineup. Contact Liberty Buick GMC if you want to learn more about the Yukon Denali Ultimate, see what other new models we have on the lot, or arrange a test drive. We’ll be more than happy to help you find the perfect vehicle!

Buick & GMC: New Models Coming in 2023

Jan 20, 2023
By Andrae Bergeron

It’s an interesting time to be a car manufacturer. The sweeping acceptance of hybrids and EVs has us all looking to the future, but it’s also important not to lose sight of where we are now: straddling that line between the past and the potential future — we want innovation but we’re still enjoying the present.

So what is a car company to do? Continue plugging forward in both arenas, hybrid/EV and gas-powered are what we want. This year, both Buick and GMC are doing some pretty big things, with every decision made based on the driving habits and desires of you, the consumer.

New 2023 GMC Model Lineup and Hummer Features

Buick and GMC plan to have a big year in 2023. It’s a calculated process to decide which models should change, stay the same, or even be completely cut from the family. But it’s necessary for any company to remain relevant and keep a claim on the standard American driving machine.

We’re not 100% sure yet of when the new models will be fully stocked on the Liberty Buick GMC lot, but we do know of the changes that were made to this year’s lineups. Let’s closely look at what you can expect in ‘23 from two of our favorite car companies.

What’s New For Buick’s 2023 Lineup

Though there honestly haven’t been any major enhancements or changes made for Buick this year, the little ones add up, not to mention the discontinuation of a model. Over the years, we’ve seen major popularity in the Encore GX. Its sales continue to climb along with its popularity, but this isn’t necessarily the case for the standard Encore, which is the smallest model of the Encore family. Due to a decline in sales and popularity over the years, Buick has decided to give the basic Encore the axe.

Now the brand can focus more on the Encore GX, Envision, and Enclave in the hopes of continuing their popularity. If you’re a fan of the Encore, worry not. The GX and the other two models are similar, only they have special features like sportiness, roominess, etc. It’s an upgrade to drive the GX, Envision, or Enclave for sure.

In 2023, the Encore GX and Envision are available in the new Moonstone Gray Metallic exterior color, with the Envision also offering the new White Frost Tricoat color. The Enclave receives a few updates as well:

  • Moonstone Gray Metallic exterior color as an option
  • New Sport Touring Edition
  • Now Available on the Essence trim level
  • Comes with 20” Gloss Black wheels

As you can see, Buick is excited about its new exterior color, Moonstone Gray Metallic. It’s a great modern color, but these are the most notable changes this year. Looks like a year of honing in what is already working and cutting out what is not. Sounds like a solid New Year’s resolution for us all!

What’s New for GMC in 2023

Similarly to Buick, GMC is not doing any big overhauls this year, but it’s making minor tweaks that add up and will make some heads turn. Let’s see what’s in store in 2023 for the GMC SUV lineup: the Terrain, Acadia, and Yukon.

2023 GMC Terrain

The base model Terrain and engine will increase horsepower by five to provide more grit to the lineup. Drivers also get an upgraded brake system. Sure, that doesn’t sound like much, but when you realize the entire system now has an additional electronic braking force assistance, it seems like a bigger deal! This new system will cause the brakes to apply more smoothly and react faster, no matter the style of the surface on which you are driving.

GMC has added a few new colors to the Terrain: Volcanic Red Tintcoat, Sterling Metallic, and Deep Bronze Metallic. The top-of-the-line Denali trim comes in a brand new package called Black Diamond, which opens the Denali trim to all the availabilities of the Terrain lineup, something not seen before with this SUV.

Some other Terrain updates include:

  • A new steering wheel
  • Switchgear for the audio and cruise control systems (another first)
  • New color options: Volcanic Red Tintcoat, Ultra Blue Metallic, and Sterling Metallic.

2023 GMC Yukon

Since the Yukon is one of the most popular SUVs on the road today — and has been for some time now — GMC drivers have been anxiously waiting on what 2023 will bring by way of upgrades. The first thrill is the arrival of the Denali Ultimate: a fancier version of the (already fancy) Denali trim level. This high-level driver comes with about every option you can imagine, as well as a pretty steep price tag at around $96,000. That’s about $20,000 more than the regular Denali trim price.

What does the Denali Ultimate include? Check out these features:

  • Alpine Umber leather upholstery throughout the SUV
  • 16-way power front seats, including a message feature
  • Open-pore wood trim running throughout
  • 18-speaker Bose sound system with all the modern features
  • Super Cruise Control — a hands-free autonomous driving system that helps to keep you safe and on the road at all times

A Maintained Focus on Safety

As important as it is to keep up with the trends and desires of the modern car driver, it’s also important — at least for car companies like Buick and GMC — to lead in modern safety trends and technologies. Here are a few of the high-tech safety features you can expect to find when shopping at Liberty Buick GMC:

High Definition Surround Vision

This digital bird’s-eye view comes in high definition and gives a crystal clear image of the area around your vehicle when driving at low speeds. The image of your area pops up on the Infotainment display, helping you to avoid objects and perfectly park in just about any spot.

Rear Camera Mirror

What we like about this camera is that you can use it inside the mirror or you can use the camera mirror display. This provides a clear, wide image, and you can zoom and tilt it vertically. You’ll never have to second-guess your backing-up skills again!

Forward Collision Alert

Forward Collision Alert uses sensors to indicate the space between you and the vehicle ahead, and it detects and alerts when a front-end collision is imminent. For instance, if the vehicle ahead is at a complete stop as you come upon it, the FCA will give you more time to apply the brake even if the collision is still going to happen. This is one feature you hope to never have to use, but it’s one that can definitely save lives.

Safety Alert Seat

This specialized seat vibrates and pulses at the bottom of the seat for various warnings. This is an alternative to auditory or visual warnings, and it’s a great option to keep you safe when you have a car full of talkative kids or feel like blasting your favorite song.

Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking

When driving below 50 miles per hour, this feature will alert you if there is the potential for a front-end collision, and it will also automatically apply emergency braking if the driver does not respond quickly enough. This feature works for pedestrians as well. If the Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking system detects a person, people, or even animals, it will notify you and begin braking.

Stop in at Liberty Buick GMC today and test-drive a few brand-new models. You have to experience some of these features for yourself!

As the year draws closer to its end, the chill in the air becomes increasingly hard to ignore. The drop in temperatures makes more and more drivers dread those morning run to their cars. But drivers aren’t the only ones struggling — chances are your vehicle isn’t a big fan of the winter either.

So, how do you ensure your vehicle can make it through the winter months, especially while keeping you warm and tackling some brutal weather conditions?

It may not sound easy, but the professionals at Liberty Buick GMC have you covered with some helpful tips to protect your vehicle, both mechanically and aesthetically. Don’t just worry about the chill; prepare to protect yourself and your car during the colder months!

How To Prepare Your Car for Winter

For Those Who Don’t Live in Harsh Winters

Drivers who don’t live in traditionally “cold” areas like the Northeast or Midwest may skim over cold weather tips. After all, extremely low temperatures are rare and less sustained outside of those regions — right?

Surprisingly, short periods of extreme cold can do a comparable amount of damage to your vehicle, especially when temperature spikes. As such, people in traditionally warmer climates should be aware of those radical drops in temperature and prepare much like their Northeastern counterparts when necessary.

Here’s the bottom line: Even if you don’t live in the Northeast, showing your vehicle some extra TLC going into winter will ensure it has a long and productive future.

Invest in Winter Tires

If there’s a chance you’ll be driving during a cold winter, investing in winter tires is a must. Winter tires are made with softer rubber that allows for more flexibility when temperatures drop. The change in material accompanied by unique tread patterns and wider grooves allows for easy driving on icy or snowy roads. It’s also important to note that having four winter tires is better than two, with two winter tires actually leading to less traction because of the mismatch in treads.

People who live in areas that receive snow just once or twice a year may feel less inclined to spend big on specialized tires. Still, it’s necessary to ensure the tires you have on your car are in good shape. Worn-out tires have less traction, which can be the difference between a safe drive and a dangerous one in winter.

If you can’t tell if it’s time for a tire replacement, use the penny trick! Simply place a penny in the tread of your tire. Make sure the penny is positioned so that Lincoln’s head points down into the tire. If the top of Lincoln’s head isn’t visible, your tread is still okay; if not, it may be time to buy some replacement tires.

If you find that you need new tires, don’t fret — Liberty Buick GMC has you covered. Our Tire Center is well-prepared to provide brand-new, affordable tires to last several winter seasons.

As our tire department states:

“Your vehicle’s tires are the first and only contact with the road, so it is important to choose the right set when replacing them.”

If you don’t know what kind of tires your vehicle needs, we’re more than equipped to help you find the perfect match. Just touch base with a Tire Center professional today!

Wash Your Car Frequently

Washing your car is a task everyone can relate to putting off, but it carries extra significance in the winter. There are a few key reasons to keep your car clean during the winter and ensure a long vehicle lifetime.

One reason to wash your car is to remove road salt build-ups because road salt is terrible for your car.

The average state spends 20% of its maintenance budget on winter road care, and that amount of money translates into a lot of road salt being put onto our roads. This substance may make your driving experience safer, but it spells trouble for your vehicle.

Road salt creates a chemical reaction that causes corrosion and rust, with the exposed metal parts of your car being most at risk. But the corrosion isn’t limited to exposed metal; it can damage your vehicle’s clear coat, paint, undercarriage, and brake and gas lines. Here’s the main takeaway:

Keep the road salt off your car and on the road.

Washing doesn’t just eliminate salt; it reduces grime and buildup which can limit or reduce visibility. In the wintertime and when driving in less-than-ideal weather conditions, visibility is often the difference between a safe drive or an accident. Keeping grime and salt off your windows, mirrors, and headlights will increase your visibility and safety.

Drive Smart

Each year, 24% of weather-related automotive accidents occur during snow or ice. While some of those accidents could be avoided by following tips related to vehicle maintenance, others could have been prevented by employing safer driving practices.

Adapting the way you drive is a necessary practice to maximize the safety and protection of your vehicle during the colder months. Icy and snowy conditions severely impact the amount of time it takes to bring your vehicle to a full stop, so increasing the distance between the car in front of you and your vehicle is an excellent first step in adopting safer practices. Similarly, it’s a good idea to decrease speed in icy conditions due to the lack of traction.

Outside of those tips, you’ll want to know what to avoid when driving in winter. Here are a few things to look out for:

Avoid puddles and potholes.

They may not seem dangerous, but you never know what puddles and potholes are hiding. They collect salt and dirty water that contribute to the corrosion we discussed, but they can also be much deeper than they appear and cause severe damage to your car and/or tires. And when it’s colder, they can turn into slick ice spots that impact your traction on the road.

Avoid driving in deep snow.

Much like puddles, you never know what deep snow could be hiding. Deep ruts, low-bearing shoulders, and more can be obscured by snow, leaving a driver and their car at risk.

Packed snow that’s been on the ground for some time also contains a lot of salt and grime, which can undo all that car cleaning and prepping you spent so much time and money on. Further, driving through deep snow can pack snow into your wheels, causing them to shake in transit. That’s not good for you or your car; so if you notice it, get to the car wash immediately!

Avoid parking on the street.

Parking on the street in the winter puts your car on the frontline of the salt spray and snow scrapes. Snow plows could push deep snow against your car, and even if you luck out on that front, the salt spray can cause severe body damage if you don’t wash it off immediately. Whatever the case, it’s a good idea to move your car if you know a winter-weather event is on the way.

Stock Your Car With The Right Tools

We’ve covered what you can do to the outside of your car to ensure it’s well taken care of, but what about the inside? Preparing something like a winter-driving safety kit can go a long way in protecting you and your vehicle.

Here are a few essential things to keep in your car throughout those cooler months that will make driving much easier and safer:

Ice Scraper: As we touched on earlier, visibility is everything in bad weather conditions, so getting that morning ice off your car is a must. Invest in a well-designed, reliable ice scraper. It’s a tool you’ll often use, so relying on a cheap product can cause headaches!

A Small, Collapsible Shovel: You never know when your car will get stuck or surrounded by deep snow. Keeping a collapsible shovel in your vehicle ensures you can dig yourself out of tough situations, instead of pushing your car to the brink of damage.

Sand or Kitty Litter: This one might seem strange, but it can be a real lifesaver during a snow or ice storm. Using a coarse material around your tires can provide extra traction and get your car out of a sticky situation.

Jumper Cables: Colder temperatures can affect your car battery and put your car in a situation where it needs a jump. Having cables on hand makes that as easy as possible and keeps your car charged and running all winter long.

Portable Air Compressor: Tires are everything in the winter. After all, they connect your vehicle to the road! It’s essential to monitor your tire pressure and keep a tool handy that can bring the tire pressure up to its recommended level.

Liberty Buick GMC

You should have a winter accompanied by a well-running vehicle if you employ these tips. Still, some vehicles are more equipped than others for challenging weather conditions. If you worry about your vehicle every time the weather cools, it might be time to invest in a new GMC that fits any road condition.

SUVs like the all-new Acadia and trucks like the Sierra offer next-generation off-roading and winter weather capabilities. And those two models only scratch the surface of GMC’s ambitious 2023 lineup.

Moreover, if you count yourself among the millions of people who own a GMC, now may be a good time to get it serviced and examined as weather conditions worsen.

Our dealership is more than equipped to provide an excellent car buying and servicing experience. If you’re ready to prepare for the winter months, don’t hesitate to connect with Liberty Buick GMC today and get your vehicle ready for any season!

Buy the Car You Can Afford!

Nov 22, 2022
By Andrae Bergeron

The 2022/2023 inflation woes have weighed heavily on the mind of the modern consumer, causing many to press pause on the act of buying a new car. But, what about those who don’t have the luxury of ‘waiting out the woes’? The truth is, when your old car won’t make it any longer, there are options for buying—even in these turbulent times.

The last thing anyone wants to do when feeling a financial crunch or entering a period of financial uncertainty—whether on an individual, national, or even global scale—is to make a big-ticket purchase. Like buying a car. Luckily, there are plenty of ways to make such a purchase and keep that peace of mind; it simply takes a bit of know-how and maneuverability on the part of the purchaser.

The Know-How

Here are the most important things to consider before you venture into the car-buying market:

  • Buy from a dealer with low staff turnover. This will take a little research, but finding a place with high retention is crucial because a dealership that maintains its staff puts its people first. And if the staff feels trusted and comfortable, they want you to feel the same—and what is the easiest way to make a potential customer feel safe and comfortable? Operating with honesty and offering a reasonable price. The Liberty Buick GMC sales staff has been at the dealership for over two decades, and for good reason.
  • In this market, you need to search for a dealer that isn’t adding “special fees” to their new cars. Kia, for example, is marking up all their new Sorento and Telluride models during this low-inventory crunch. It’s legal but it might not win them customers for life. At Liberty Buick GMC, Scott McCorkle refuses to add special, “low-inventory” fees to any of his models. All pricing is capped at MSRP—always.
  • Read the reviews! Any dealership worth visiting has Google reviews. For example, Liberty Buick GMC has excellent reviews for its sales team and its service team. This is important because not only do you want to grasp a glance at how the sales team works, but the level of expertise in the service department is just as important. Think about it: If a dealership has a strong sales team yet its service department is lacking, it promotes the idea that they want to make quick money and forget about the customer once she walks off the sales floor.

At Liberty Buick GMC, we pride ourselves on both sales and service. Here are a few of our reviews (we have nearly 2,000):

Hayley Boyce writes: “If I could give them 6+ stars I would! From the very minute we met our salesman, Arte, to the second we drove away with our new truck, we had the best and smoothest experience! Brad and Arte were both so helpful and kind and we are already looking forward to purchasing our next vehicle with them in the future.”

Angel Marie posted, “Easiest buying experience ever! I am thankful for the flexibility of management to communicate via text before I went in. It allowed me to focus on my other obligations I had during the day without missing out on the vehicle I wanted. My drive to the dealership was a little over 3 hours away and very worth it! Every staff member who assisted me was extremely kind and welcoming especially my salesman Rusty! Thank you, I look forward to doing business in the future.”

Our service department got a nod from Stefen Cordova and his story: “I was traveling from FL and when arriving in Charlotte, my brakes gave out on me. I called multiple GM dealers and no one was helpful. Expect Liberty Buick GMC. The service dept was super helpful and did everything they could to make sure my brakes were fixed the same day. Not to mention, it’s 4th of July weekend so they were already busy. The exceptional men, Jacob, Robert, and Kevin were not only professional but did everything to get my car fixed. They were a blessing and I will forever be grateful for them. Bring your car here if you need help. You won’t regret it. Thanks again guys!”

How To Buy A Car You Can Afford

The Maneuverability: We’ll Do the Work for You

Let our trained loan specialists advise you on exactly what can be done. And if we can’t finance in-house, we will find the best car loan company for your specific needs.

What to bring with you when you come in?

  1. A valid driver’s license
  2. Insurance information
  3. Two most recent pay stubs
  4. Proof of residency

Chances are if you have credit problems, you will end up with what is called a subprime loan, and most of the time it maintains high interest levels and can be incredibly confusing to obtain. But once we have your credit information, no matter how bad it may be, we will work on your behalf.

Here is what we do: We gather your information and decide which companies will offer the best rates. Then we work with the company that offers the best deal to get you a loan as fast as possible. But that’s not all. We will also show you how to build that credit score back up (if needed). Then you can refinance as soon as possible and find yourself paying down your loan with an even lower interest rate.

The Next Move: Finance, Lease, or Cash?

Most people finance, a smaller percentage lease, and even fewer pay cash; but this is not indicative of which is best, as each option has its own set of advantages and disadvantages. Deciding on your method of purchase is highly dependent upon specific details, such as how long you wish to own the vehicle, your current credit score, and how much cash you have in the bank. Regardless of your financial situation, each option should be scrutinized before making such a significant purchase.

Paying cash: A positive to this method is a lack of worry over charges or finance fees; also, when using cash, you hold the title (rather than the bank), making for less hassle if you choose to sell the vehicle later down the road. And, you do not have to make monthly payments. A negative aspect to paying cash is that most often people don’t have such a large sum stowed away.

Leasing: This option usually allows for a new model annually, and the vehicle is typically always under warranty, eliminating worry over engine or other performance problems. The monthly payments for leasing are often less than financing. Additionally, there are highly beneficial tax cuts when the leased vehicle is used primarily for business purposes. When leasing, you do not have to worry about making a down payment—assuming your credit is good enough.

Negative aspects to leasing include a requirement of more than simply having basic insurance: often dealerships will require a specific amount or type of insurance, resulting in a higher monthly fee. Also, although a leased vehicle is covered with warranty, it is not covered for scratches and dents, which will have to be paid out of pocket.

Financing: The most commonly used method of purchase for Americans, this option allows you to use the bank’s money, freeing up your disposable income and the time it can take to save enough money to pay cash. Credit scores determine the type of financing available (the higher the score, the lower the interest rate), and there are usually nice warranty packages out there for financers. The downside to financing? Your monthly payments are usually a little higher than when leasing, and there is usually a hefty down payment required.

Don’t get caught up in the worry and anxiety of spending big money on a car. Come to Liberty Buick GMC and we will help you do the math and buy the car you can afford.
